Budgam, July 29 (JKNS): Three CRPF personnel were injured after a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle met with an accident near Sheikhpora area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday after reportedly colliding with a Chinar tree.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS that the accident took place in the afternoon hours, leaving three CRPF personnel injured.
They said one of the injured personnel, who sustained comparatively serious injuries, was referred to a hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment, while the other two are undergoing medical treatment locally.
Meanwhile, the road near Sheikhpora, which remained temporarily blocked following the accident, has been cleared and reopened for traffic.
Vehicular movement between Budgam and Srinagar has been fully restored, while commuters have been advised to drive cautiously and strictly follow traffic regulations. (JKNS)...

Locals Hail SHO Devsar Masood-Ul-Hassan for Swift Response After Cloudburst Hits Dardgund
Kulgam, July 29 (KNC): Residents of Dardgund and adjoining villages in Devsar area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district have lauded SHO Devsar Masood-Ul-Hassan and his police team for their prompt response following the cloudburst that triggered flash floods, causing damage to houses, cattle sheds, crops and orchards.
Locals said SHO Masood-Ul-Hassan immediately rushed to the affected area along with his team after receiving information about the incident and actively participated in rescue and relief operations.
The police assisted stranded families, coordinated with emergency agencies and ensured the safe evacuation of vulnerable residents.
"We were in panic after floodwaters entered our village. SHO Masood-Ul-Hassan and his team reached without delay, stood by the affected families and worked tirelessly until the situation was brought under control. Their timely intervention and dedication deserve appreciation," said a local resident.
Residents also appealed to the district administration to expedite the damage assessment and provide adequate compensation to the affected families at the earliest. (KNC)...

Pedestrian killed after motorcycle hits him in Sambaβs SIDCO Phase-I
Samba, July 29 (KNO): A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in the SIDCO Phase-I industrial area of Samba district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official told the news agencyβKashmir News Observer (KNO) that the accident occurred when a motorcyclist travelling through SIDCO Phase-I struck a pedestrian, leaving both persons injured.
He said both the injured were immediately shifted to the District Hospital Samba for treatment. The pedestrian was later referred to AIIMS Vijaypur, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The deceased was identified as Raju, son of Chanderpal, a resident of Nepal. The motorcycle rider also sustained injuries, while his identity was yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation.β(KNO)...

Peaceful Protest Held in Drangbal, Baramulla; Protesters Clarify Alleged Incident Occurred in Jalsheri
Baramulla: A peaceful protest was held in the Drangbal area of Baramulla on Tuesday, where a large number of residents gathered in solidarity with the survivor of the alleged r**e case and demanded the strictest punishment for the accused.
During the demonstration, the protesters clarified that the alleged incident did not occur in Drangbal. They stated that it had taken place in Jalsheri, a locality situated several kilometers away from Drangbal, and urged the public and media to avoid linking the incident to the wrong area.
Instead of lighting candles, the protesters illuminated the gathering by switching on the flashlights of their mobile phones as a symbol of unity and support for justice. They raised slogans demanding swift justice and called upon the authorities to ensure that the accused receive the maximum punishment under the law if found guilty.

Police Attach House of Alleged Drug Smuggler in South Kashmir's Shopian
Shopian, July 29, KNT: Shopian Police today attached the residential property of an alleged drug smuggler in the Keller area of the district in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property comprises a double-storeyed residential house along with its yard, having a plinth area of 673.197 square feet under Survey No. 131 at Kathohallan village in Keller. Police said the property is valued at approximately Rs. 18,76,665.
The property belongs to Nazir Ahmad Lone, son of Reshi Lone, a resident of Kathohallan, Keller, who is an accused in FIR No. 27/2025 registered under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Keller.
The attachment was carried out by Police Station Keller in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Keller, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Keller, in accordance with legal procedures.
Police said the accused is presently at his residence, while further proceedings in the case are underway. [KNT]...
