Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox’s friendship has lasted far beyond their years playing Rachel Green and Monica Geller on Friends.

In a 2014 interview with More magazine, Aniston spoke openly about how much Cox had supported her over the years. She described Cox as extremely fair, loyal, loving, and someone who never made her feel judged. Aniston also revealed, “I’ve slept in her guest bedroom a lot,” adding that Cox had been there for her “through thick and thin.”

The comment wasn’t presented as a funny Friends anecdote, but as part of a larger conversation about the genuine friendship the two actresses had developed since the sitcom began in 1994.

Their bond has remained one of the most recognizable friendships to emerge from the Friends cast. Aniston became the godmother of Cox’s daughter, Coco, while Cox has continued to be a major presence in Aniston’s life. Their friendship has also been highlighted repeatedly since the series ended, including during the Friends: The Reunion era.

What makes the story especially fitting for longtime fans is the parallel with Rachel and Monica. On Friends, Monica’s apartment was often Rachel’s safe place during difficult moments. In real life, Cox apparently provided Aniston with a similarly welcoming space when she needed one.

The guest-bedroom detail may sound simple, but Aniston’s comments make clear that their friendship involved genuine trust, support, and years of shared experiences not just a connection created by working together on television.

When Chandler gets a band-aid pulled off and Ross just wants the Pop-Tart... classic Friends chaos! 😂☕️

On September 22, 1994, Friends premiered with "The Pilot" and the very first meaningful moment of the entire series arrived when Rachel Green, still in her wedding dress, burst through the doors of Central Perk having fled her own ceremony to Barry the orthodontist.

It remains one of television's most iconic character introductions Jennifer Aniston's Rachel, soaked from the rain, utterly overwhelmed, reuniting with childhood friend Monica after years apart, and inadvertently setting the entire show's emotional engine into motion. That single scene launched not just Rachel's decade-long arc, but the beginning of one of the most influential ensemble comedies in television history.

Thirty-two years later, the show's cultural footprint has barely diminished. Friends remains one of the most consistently streamed series on any platform, still introducing new generations of viewers to Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler, and the rest of the gang who spent a decade on that orange couch.

What began as a runaway bride walking into a coffee shop became a defining piece of 1990s television one that reshaped how sitcoms approached friendship, romance, and ensemble storytelling for years to come.

Central Perk is still serving coffee in reruns everywhere. Rachel Green never stopped walking through that door.

More than two decades after Friends ended, Jennifer Aniston remains genuinely moved by just how deeply the show continues to resonate not simply as nostalgia, but as an actual source of comfort for people navigating real stress and difficulty.

"People will say that they go back and watch episodes to help their mental health that if they're stressed about the news or the world, they'll just sit down and watch a Friends episode," Aniston told Harper's Bazaar UK. "And that's the ultimate compliment."

For Aniston, the sentiment carries added weight given what the show meant to her personally during its original run. "It completely formed who I was," she reflected. "It was pure joy. I looked forward to it every day. I couldn't wait to get to work. I couldn't wait to see those people."

The comments came within a broader conversation about the show's legacy, including Aniston firmly ruling out any future reboot, sequel, or remake something she described as "literally, physically impossible" following Matthew Perry's passing in 2023. She spoke movingly of Perry's own relationship with the show, noting that "for someone who had that much inner turmoil, he sure got to laugh a lot, and that was everything to him."

Two decades on, and Friends isn't just remembered for countless viewers, it's still doing exactly what it always did best: making people feel a little less alone.

When Chandler tries to justify his bad habits... classic Chandler! 🚬😂

It’s crazy to think that when the very first episode of Friends was being filmed, nobody really knew they were creating one of the biggest sitcoms of all time.

The pilot introduced us to everything that would eventually become iconic, Rachel walking into Central Perk in her wedding dress, Monica’s apartment, Ross and his complicated love life, Chandler’s sarcasm, Joey’s charm, Phoebe’s weirdness, and of course, the beginning of the six friends we would spend years with.

But there’s a pretty funny behind the scenes detail, Matt LeBlanc reportedly filmed the pilot while dealing with a 102 degree fever and a really bad case of the flu. Imagine being that sick and still having to help launch a brand new sitcom 😭

Even the creators had no idea what they had. Co creator David Crane later admitted that they thought of it as just another pilot, especially because their previous show had been cancelled.

NBC executives were even unsure about Monica sleeping with Paul, the w**e guy, because they worried viewers might not like her. The creators stood their ground.

And interestingly, Friends wasn’t an instant ratings sensation either. It took some time before audiences really caught on.

The rest, as they say, is history. ❤️
