Shuffled is a blend of text, poetry, movement, sound, song, and cardistry.

The primary narrative draws from the performer’s memories of his mother: her life and her dying.

The autobiographical memories form a kaleidoscopic backdrop that reflects and highlights broader themes of freewill, choice, resilience, and perception. Shuffled glides through terrains of silence, humour, grief, and hope – exploring what they offer… refusing to get pinned down to the linear, single narrative.

The work touches the personal and political – about the Hobson’s Choice (Take it or leave it), the pressures on the Adivasi ways of life, the limits of free-will – all anchored within the body, relationships, dreams, desires…

Card tricks appear throughout the performance to enhance intimacy, playfulness, and reflection.

Shuffled is a solo performance by the Bangalore based theatre worker, Anish Victor.
