India is projected to face a shortfall of 2.55 million doctors, nurses, and midwives by 2030. Globally, we will need around 11 million new health workers by 2030.

But the challenge goes beyond numbers.

Training more health workers does not automatically improve healthcare delivery.

Health workforce effectiveness also depends on whether workers can retain and apply their competencies, whether the work environment enables them to perform, and whether incentives support and sustain that performance.

Our latest carousel explores three areas that can help strengthen human resources for health (HRH) performance:

- Measure competency along with training participation;
- Build a supportive work environment;
- Design appropriate incentives.

A stronger health workforce requires more than trained workers. It also requires conditions that enable them to deliver care effectively.

A health worker can have the right skills and still be unable to deliver quality care.

When performance falls short, programs often turn to training first. However, a performance gap does not always signal a competency gap.

The problem may lie in unclear roles, inadequate supervision, poor deployment practices, limited resources, misaligned incentives, or broader health system constraints.

Programs need to ask, “Where exactly is the system breaking down?” before they decide whether training is the right solution.

It is easy to discuss climate finance in theory. It is much harder to secure a loan for a growing green business.

For our upcoming webinar, “Unlocking finance for climate investments,” we will move beyond discussions of the finance gap in Kenya’s Black Soldier Fly (BSF) sector. We will explore how to close it.

We have brought together the people who can address this challenge:

- Fredrick Juma, Founder, Hydro Victoria, will ground the discussion in a real business case. He will share his growth ambitions, financing needs, commercial constraints, and experience seeking finance.

- Mary Mutemi, Manager, Climate Change and Sustainability, MSC (MicroSave Consulting), will present a concise diagnostic of BSF enterprises. She will explain their current position, commercialization constraints, and why access to finance remains difficult.

- Dr. Jackson Koimbori, Head of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Consult & Senior Circular Economy and Climate Change Coordinator, KEPSA, will share the private-sector perspective and a call to action.

- Collins Amugune, Strategic Partnerships & Digital Sales Manager, GA Insurance Limited, will discuss the risks BSF enterprises face, potential insurance solutions, and the requirements businesses must meet to qualify for coverage. He will explain how insurance protects assets and operations, addresses lenders’ risk concerns, and supports access to finance.

- Pricilla Okutoyi, Manager, MSC, will moderate the discussion. She will keep the conversation focused on practical transactions and draw out concrete actions and follow-up commitments.

- Charles Nyadero, Investment Manager, Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV), will provide an impact investor’s perspective. He will focus on deal origination, due diligence, and the specific evaluations required to fund green enterprises.

- Naftali Swaka Ashira, Regional Enterprise Development Coordinator, Equity Group Foundation, will focus on SME capacity building. He will share how targeted entrepreneurship training and mentorship equip founders to successfully navigate lender requirements.

How do we move the climate finance conversation from broad funding needs to practical, bankable transactions?

Join MSC (MicroSave Consulting) and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) for an action-oriented webinar, “Unlocking finance for climate investments,” which seeks to bridge this gap for Kenya’s emerging Black Soldier Fly (BSF) enterprises. BSF offers significant potential for climate-smart agriculture (CSA). Many of these businesses remain underfunded and struggle to scale due to limited collateral, their presence in emerging markets, and rigid lending structures.

This interactive finance clinic will bring together entrepreneurs, financiers, and insurers to tackle these challenges. We will explore commercialization gaps, clarify minimum lender requirements, and define concrete steps to make these enterprises finance-ready.

Organizations are increasingly setting climate and net-zero ambitions. Yet, these ambitions require more than targets to deliver meaningful emissions reductions. Organizations need informed choices, organizational change, better data, and action to meet them.

As part of Zero Emissions Day 2026, MSC (MicroSave Consulting) is hosting a conversation on what it really takes to reduce emissions within an organization. The discussion will explore the actions employees can take, the changes organizations can enable, and how data and technology can support meaningful emissions reductions.

The session will explore how to:

- Identify sources of organizational emissions and key opportunities to reduce them;
- Understand what employees can influence through everyday decisions and ways of working;
- Assess changes that require broader organizational or systemic action;
- Use data to identify and prioritize meaningful interventions;
- Apply technology to support emissions reductions; and
- Move from climate ambition to practical action.

Fraud does not always look suspicious. Sometimes, it looks like a familiar message, a convincing caller, or a recognizable detail.
We built Fraud Factory, an interactive game that puts you in realistic scam situations and challenges you to spot what is real and what is not.

The game has three parts and takes you about eight minutes to complete.

1) Spot the scam: Review six situations and decide whether each one is genuine or a scam.
2) See how deception works: Step into a scammer’s shoes and understand the tricks behind the interaction.
3) Test yourself again: Try six new situations with guidance on what to look for.
The game will help you to:
- Recognize common scam tactics;
- Distinguish suspicious situations from genuine ones;
- Know what to check before you trust, share information, or send money.

Join us on 15th September for The fraud factory: Industrialized, automated and scalable, you were never the target! You were the product! where we will open the webinar with a live round of the game.

Deepfakes, AI voice clones, and money mules have become common tools in modern fraud.

Do you think a single scammer orchestrates it all? In most cases, the answer is no.

Modern fraud rarely relies on a single scammer. It operates through global supply chains, where different players collaborate to deceive consumers and move stolen money across borders within minutes.

This raises an important question: Who should protect consumers from increasingly sophisticated fraud networks?

Join MSC (MicroSave Consulting) for the webinar titled “The fraud factory: Industrialized, automated and scalable, you were never the target! You were the product!” to explore how these networks operate and what it takes to strengthen consumer protection.

We will kick off the session with a quick game called The Fraud Factory. Before the panel explores policy, our host will present realistic scam scenarios and see who can spot the red flags.

India built Aadhaar for digital identity, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for real-time payments, and smart electricity meters for power distribution.

Now, the same digital approach could help transform another everyday essential in Indian homes: liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

A digital layer could give households real-time visibility into LPG levels, enable flexible payments based on actual use, and trigger timely deliveries before they run out.

India’s LPG network already reaches hundreds of millions of households. The missing piece is not more infrastructure, but greater intelligence and connectivity built on top of the existing
network.

Explore our latest blog to see how digital innovation could shape the future of clean cooking in India: https://tinyurl.com/ycv4ek5z

02/09/2026

Sarita is a homemaker in India who relies on a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder for daily cooking. She often lifts or shakes the cylinder to guess how much gas remains.

A smart sensor could track the level for her, while an app could tell her, “You have 12 days of LPG remaining.” When the level gets low, the system could book a refill automatically and alert her when it is on the way. She would no longer run out mid-meal or face uncertainty.

She could also pay in smaller amounts based on her LPG use, rather than making a large upfront payment for each cylinder.

If the sensor detects an unusual gas pattern, it could flag a potential leak, shut off the supply, and alert the distributor before it becomes dangerous.

Together, these features could add a digital, connected layer to the LPG network India has already built, without requiring new pipelines or cylinders.
