We are delighted to share that the GLAU Library System celebrated National Librarians’ Day on 12 August 2026, commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom. Prof. Anup Kumar Gupta, Vice Chancellor, GLAU, and Prof. Aasheesh Shukla, Associate Dean Academic, GLAU, graced the occasion as Special Invited Guests.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Assistant Librarian, GLAULS, warmly welcomed the guests with floral bouquets. Mr. Sushil Kumar Singh highlighted the life, vision, and remarkable contributions of Dr. Ranganathan to Library and Information Science.
The dignitaries appreciated the vital role of libraries and librarians in supporting teaching, learning, research, and knowledge dissemination. The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from all library staff, followed by a group lunch, making the celebration memorable and meaningful.

Glimpse of the Concluding Ceremony of National Library Week:
GLA University Library System formally concluded National Library Week with an Awards Ceremony held today in the New Library near Gate No. 2. The Chief Guest, Prof. Vikas Sharma, graciously presented the awards to the winners.
