Russia has strongly condemned the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and members of his family.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, while addressing the UN General Assembly, called the use of military force to eliminate Khamenei and his family “completely unacceptable.” He described it as another example of coercive diktat and a serious violation of international norms.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had also termed the killing a “cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law” and expressed deep condolences to Iran.
