Day 9 of RE Moto Mongolia 2026 and we’re finally back to civilisation. After two days of rough terrain with barely a paved road, fuel station or car in sight, the return to tarmac feels surprisingly exciting.

The 130km ride brings us to Kharkhorin, the historic centre of the Mongol Empire and once the capital of Mongolia in the 13th century. We’re also heading to Erdene Zuu Monastery, built in the 16th century on the site of the former imperial capital.

First stop, though? The fuel station. After days in the wild, that might just be the most important landmark today.

Suki found the perfect spot to take a break, soak up some Mongolian sun and wait for the rest of the group to catch up. After days of riding, even a few quiet minutes in the middle of nowhere feel pretty good.

Meanwhile, the group is slowly making its way into the frame. 😂🏍️

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 BEV takes the screen real estate up a notch. The driver display, central infotainment and passenger screen are integrated into one seamless-looking panel, with the graphics flowing across all three.

Mercedes-Benz has retained physical controls for frequently used functions such as drive modes, parking cameras, hazards and volume, while the AC controls remain integrated into the touchscreen. The steering wheel also continues with physical controls.

BMW’s connection with art goes way back, but bringing it straight into the digital cockpit takes it to a whole new level!

In the new BMW i5 LWB, switching to ‘Digital Art’ mode completely transforms the Curved Display and ambient lighting with "Quantum Garden"—a custom digital piece created by Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei. It even comes with an audio guide built right into the system so you can hear the artist explain the inspiration behind the work while you drive!

After seven days of hard riding across Mongolia, Day 8 feels very different. The landscape gets greener, the mountains start appearing and the cold gets a little more noticeable, but there’s a natural hot spring waiting to warm things up.

At Chenka Hot Springs, naturally heated water flows out from the rocks, with temperatures reaching around 85°C at the source. The sulphur smell gives away just how natural this whole setup is, while pools around the campsite turn it into the perfect place to unwind.

For once, there’s no rush to get back on the bikes. Just a rest day, some laundry and a little time to chill before the sand dunes call tomorrow. ♨️🏍️
