The RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT (RBM) SCHEME promotes basin-level planning for the integrated management of surface water, groundwater and associated ecosystems. It supports scientific planning, project development, flood and erosion management, drainage development and sustainable water use across strategically important river basins.
With a focus on basins including the Brahmaputra, Barak, Teesta and Indus, the scheme strengthens India’s approach to water security through coordinated planning, modern technologies and institutional collaboration.
