AI may not take your job. But it will change what your job demands from you.
As routine work becomes increasingly automated, the advantage will shift to people who can combine depth of expertise with the ability to work across functions, adapt quickly and apply technology with purpose.
In this episode of Nasscom Conversations, Priya Prabhu, HR Leader at Baker Tilly One India, joins Kavita Doshi, Head of Corporate Communications at Nasscom, to discuss what this transition means for careers and workplaces.
From building T-shaped skills to navigating feedback and career choices intentionally, the conversation examines three capabilities likely to define the next phase of work: digital and AI fluency, resilience, and adaptability.
Kishor Patil, Co-founder, CEO and Managing Director of KPIT Technologies Limited, and Chair of the Nasscom ER&D Council, outlines why India must reposition itself from being seen as an outsourcing destination to becoming a global innovation and R&D powerhouse.
He highlights three strategic priorities. First, building an innovation-led identity, supported by strong research enablement. Second, accelerating industry growth, where engineering R&D acts as a key driver across technology, manufacturing, and emerging sectors. Third, sustained talent development ensures that India builds deep, future-ready capabilities.
With a clear three-year roadmap under the Nasscom ER&D Council, the focus is on evangelizing R&D adoption across industries and strengthening India’s long-term competitiveness. Kishor Patil emphasizes that engineering R&D will not only shape the current decade but also potentially the next century, powering innovation across the entire economy.

The Forum provides a platform for the industry to work collectively on shared priorities, including advocacy.
Ravi Kuchibhotla, Chief Strategy Officer at Cognizant, shared the company’s continued commitment to partnering with, supporting and co-innovating with fast-scaling startups.
The evening also featured a fireside conversation between Wesley Mathews, Vice President of State Governmental Affairs at PSEG, and Kavita Doshi, Senior Director, Communications at Nasscom.
