Bateshwar is a village in Agra District, on the banks of the river Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

On a sweeping bend of the Yamuna, there is a chain of 101 riverside temples dedicated chiefly to Lord Shiva whitewashed ghats mirrored in the river. These temples were built by 17th-century Bhadauria Rajput ruler of the Bhadawar estate Raja Badan Singh Bhadauria.

The name Bateshwar is derived from the main Bateshwarnath Temple dedicated to Bateshwarnath Mahadev (Lord Shiva). Bat is Hindi word for Banyan tree.

The month-long Bateshwar Fair around Kartik Purnima (October–November) combines one of North India’s largest cattle fairs with ritual bathing and folk performances.

Bateshwar is also famous for the Jain tirth of Shauripur, associated with Bhagwan Neminath, lies nearby.

Humayun's Tomb is one of India's finest examples of early Mughal architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1565 and 1572, it was commissioned by Bega Begum (also known as Haji Begum) in memory of her husband, the Mughal emperor Humayun. It was designed by the Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and became the first grand garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent.

The monument is constructed primarily from striking red sandstone with elegant white marble detailing. It stands on a high platform at the center of a vast charbagh (four-part Persian-style garden), divided by water channels and walkways that symbolize the gardens of paradise. Its magnificent double dome, graceful arches, intricate lattice screens (jali), and symmetrical design reflect a harmonious blend of Persian and Indian architectural traditions.

The central chamber houses the symbolic cenotaph of Humayun, while the actual grave lies in a lower burial chamber beneath it. The complex also contains the tombs of numerous Mughal princes and nobles, earning it the nickname "Dormitory of the Mughals."

Humayun's Tomb had a profound influence on later Mughal architecture, particularly the design of Taj Mahal, which adopted many of its architectural concepts, including the garden setting, elevated platform, and perfect symmetry.

Today, the monument is renowned not only for its historical significance but also for its serene gardens, exquisite craftsmanship, and role in marking the beginning of the golden age of Mughal architecture in India. It remains one of Delhi's most visited heritage attractions and an enduring symbol of the artistic and cultural achievements of the Mughal Empire.

Colors of Pangong Tso
The word Pangong is derived from the Ladakhi word Baggong which means “narrow and enchanted”. Pangong Tso, an endorheic lake ( without drainage) is an enigmatic wonder of nature, famous for its ever-changing exquisite colors. Its a high altitude salt-water lake about 160Kms from Leh city of Ladakh is situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft), and running 134 km (83 mi) long extending from Ladakh in India to Tibet in China.

Update on Sri Lankan Tourist Visa Process :

Sri Lanka has introduced a free tourist visa (ETA) scheme for nationals of 40 specified countries (list in attached photo), as well as citizens of Maldives, Seychelles, and Singapore.
India is among these 40 countries.

Key points:
All foreign nationals must still obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka.
The ETA will be processed free of charge for eligible countries.
Any ETA fees paid before 25 May 2026 are non-refundable.
Eligible travellers receive a 30-day tourist visa with double-entry facility.
Citizens of Maldives receive a 90-day tourist visa under a bilateral agreement.
Travellers wishing to stay beyond 30 days can apply for a visa extension by paying applicable fees.
Nationals of countries not covered by this scheme will continue under the normal Sri Lanka ETA rules and regulations.
