Strengthening Teachers, Protecting Children.

As part of the Safety First Campaign, SCAN-Goa conducted a training session on ‘Child Protection Laws & Safety Mechanisms in Goa’ for the secondary and higher secondary teachers of Sharada Mandir School, Miramar, on 24th August 2026.

The session focused on understanding child sexual abuse, recognising different forms of abuse, and strengthening teachers’ preparedness to respond to cases involving children. Through practical discussions, case-based illustrations and interactive learning, the teachers explored real-life scenarios and the legal responsibilities involved in safeguarding children.

The Safety First Campaign is an ongoing collaborative endeavour by SCAN-Goa, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), under the leadership of the Mayor of Panaji Shri Rohit Monserrate, and with the support of Equiknox India, working continuously to create greater awareness and strengthen community participation in the protection of women and children.

Building Safer Schools Through Awareness & Action!

As part of the Safety First Campaign, SCAN-Goa conducted a training session on “Child Protection Laws & Safety Mechanisms in Goa” for the foundational and preparatory stage teachers of Sharada Mandir School, Miramar, on 20th August 2026.

The session focused on understanding child sexual abuse, recognising different types of cases, and strengthening teachers’ preparedness to respond appropriately. Through case simulations, practical illustrations and interactive discussions, the participants explored real-life situations and the responsibilities involved in safeguarding children.

An awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act was conducted for the administrative staff, bus drivers, conductors and other employees of Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC), Porvorim, on 18 August 2026.

The session focused on understanding workplace sexual harassment, recognising inappropriate behaviour, the rights and responsibilities of employees, and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace. The discussion also highlighted the role of employees in fostering a culture where concerns can be raised without fear and addressed through appropriate mechanisms.

Creating awareness across every level of an organisation is an important step towards building workplaces that are safer, more respectful and free from harassment.

Building stronger families through awareness and communication!

SCAN-Goa conducted an Awareness Session for Parents during the PTA meeting at St. John of the Cross High School, Sanquelim, focusing on issues affecting children and adolescents today.

The session highlighted the importance of open parent-child communication and covered key concerns such as child sexual abuse, the rising trend of teenage pregnancy in Goa, substance abuse, online/cyber crimes, and underage riding and driving.

An informed parent is a child’s first line of protection. Together, let us create safer homes, stronger relationships, and a supportive environment for every child.

Building Awareness. Inspiring Responsibility. ✨

As part of the Safety First Campaign, an interactive awareness session was held for the std 10 students of Sharada Mandir School on 13 August 2026.

The discussion centred on issues that are highly relevant to today’s adolescents, including healthy relationships, protection under the POCSO Act, the dangers and legal implications of underage riding/driving, and cybercrime and online safety. Students actively participated in conversations on making safe choices and becoming responsible digital citizens.

This programme was conducted in collaboration with our Mayor Mr. Rohit Monserrate, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) with the support of Equiknox India, with the shared goal of creating informed, confident and safety-conscious young individuals.

Every conversation today is a step towards a safer tomorrow.

The session covered key issues affecting adolescents, including healthy relationships, the POCSO Act, underage riding and driving, cybercrime awareness and responsible digital behaviour. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, students were encouraged to make informed decisions and stay safe both offline and online.

This initiative was organised in collaboration with Mayor
Rohit Monserrate, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and Equiknox, reinforcing our shared commitment to empowering young minds through awareness and education.

Building safer homes through awareness and communication.

SCAN-Goa conducted an Awareness Session for Parents at Our Lady of Divar High School, Divar on 08 August 2026, focusing on the importance of fostering trust, open communication, and a strong parent-child bond.

The session addressed key issues affecting children and adolescents today, including: • Child sexual abuse and prevention • The rising concern of teenage pregnancy in Goa • Substance abuse among youth • Online crimes and digital safety • Underage riding and driving and its legal and safety implications.

Parents actively participated in discussions on recognising warning signs, guiding children responsibly, and creating a safe and supportive environment at home.

Together, informed parents can protect, support, and empower children to grow safely and confidently.

SCAN-Goa conducted an Awareness Session on the POSH Act for the 1st Year students of Agnel Institute of Engineering & Management, Assagao on 10th August 2026.

The session focused on understanding the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, promoting respectful behaviour, recognising inappropriate conduct, and encouraging students to contribute towards a safe and inclusive educational environment.
