Six months ago, we came to Shillong with a simple belief:

When you give someone a skill, you don’t just teach them a craft. You open a door to possibility. 🌱

Today, that belief has taken shape through 25 women artisans who are learning to turn discarded waste into something beautiful while building skills, confidence and new opportunities for themselves. 🧵♻️

Through the EHF Foundation, these women have been trained in traditional craft techniques to transform waste into products with purpose.

But this story isn’t really about waste.

It’s about what happens when opportunity reaches the right hands. 💚

And these 25 women have stories worth knowing.

Over the coming days, we’re bringing you 25 stories of courage, learning and transformation one artisan at a time.🎥

This is only the beginning.

Meet the hands behind the movement.
Through the EcoKaari™ - Humanising Fashion, these women have been trained in traditional craft techniques of Charkha and Handloom to transform waste plastic into products with purpose.

Weaving Sustainability and Empowerment in Shillong🧵🌍

At EHF Development Foundation, we are proud to drive Project Resource Reborn, a CSR initiative of Bajaj Electricals Foundation supported by the Smart Village Movement. This initiative empowers 25 local women artisans to transform plastic waste into sustainable textiles, seamlessly blending environmental restoration with livelihood creation.

Highlights from our recent site visit:
- Interactive Dialogue: We were honored to host Bajaj Electricals Ltd. for an open exchange with our artisans to discuss their first-hand experiences and the operational journey of this women-led project.
- Hands-on Innovation: The visiting team gained practical experience at the handlooms, witnessing how discarded plastic is upcycled into high-quality fabric.
- Founder’s Vision: Our founder, Nandan Bhat, joined the session to share strategic insights on the project’s growth since its inception in February 2026.

This project has helped us generate the following impact:
- Livelihoods Enabled: 25
- Waste Plastic Upcycled: 1,575 kgs

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Bajaj Electricals Foundation for their continued support.
Together, we are creating a “Better Planet, Better Life” by tackling environmental challenges through community-led social impact.
