🚨 BIG UPDATE ON 3-DAY BANK STRIKE: IBA REVISES “SENSITIVE INSTALLATIONS” LIST | UFBU ISSUES CLARIFICATION ON SUNDAY BANKING

A significant development has emerged ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike from 28–30 September 2026.

🏦 IBA Issues Revised List of Sensitive Installations

The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), through its communication dated 25 September 2026, has sent a revised common list of sensitive installations to SBI, Public Sector Banks and IDBI Bank, following discussions at a meeting of Executive Directors.

According to the communication, these are functions requiring round-the-clock management/surveillance:

🔹 Payment, Settlement & Remittance Hubs — including RTGS, NEFT, IMPS, NACH, UPI and AePS
🔹 ATM Operations & Switch Centres
🔹 Treasury Operations & SWIFT Cells
🔹 Cyber Security Operations Centres
🔹 Digital/Alternate Delivery Channel Operations — including Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and CBDC
🔹 Fraud Risk Management & I4C Cells
🔹 Network Operations Centres
🔹 Contact Centre operations including IVR, if outsourced
🔹 Call Centres/Contact Centres providing 24×7 services, if outsourced

📢 UFBU Clarifies Position on Sunday, 27 September

In the accompanying communication, UFBU states that the issue of employees reporting to banks on Sunday, 27 September 2026, was taken up with IBA.

According to UFBU's statement, it was informed that branches would function for purposes including ATM replenishment, movement of cash from Currency Chests to prevent ATMs from running dry, and certain minimum services.

UFBU further states that 27 September is not a strike day, and employees and officers can therefore attend branches on Sunday.

UFBU's communication also states that eligible compensation and overtime wages will be paid for Sunday working, subject to the applicable arrangements/rules.

🚨 INDIAN BANK ANNOUNCES ₹2,000 COMPENSATION FOR OFFICERS WORKING ON SUNDAY | OVERTIME ALLOWANCE FOR AWARD STAFF

Indian Bank has issued Circular No. 24415 dated 25 September 2026, announcing compensation for employees working due to the opening of branches/offices on Sunday, 27 September 2026.

🏦 The circular follows the bank's earlier instructions regarding the functioning of branches, offices, ATM-link branches and Currency Chests on Sunday.

💰 For Officers: Officers attending regular official duties on 27 September 2026 will be eligible for ₹2,000 compensation, as per the bank's applicable policy for attending branches/offices on Sundays, weekly-off days and bank holidays.

⏰ For Award Staff: Award Staff working on Sunday will be eligible for Overtime Allowance, in accordance with the Bipartite Settlement and existing bank guidelines.

🚨 SBI TO OPEN BRANCHES/OFFICES ON SUNDAY — ₹2,000 OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES FOR OFFICERS & OVERTIME FOR AWARD STAFF

The State Bank of India (SBI) has issued an official communication dated 25 September 2026 regarding the opening of its branches and offices on Sunday, 27 September 2026, ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike.

🏦 As per the communication, branches, offices, administrative offices, verticals and other establishments of SBI will function normally on Sunday, 27 September 2026.

💰 For Officers:
Officers attending regular official duties on Sunday will be eligible for ₹2,000 as Out-of-Pocket Expenses, subject to the bank's applicable instructions.

⏰ For Award Staff:
Award Staff working on Sunday will be eligible for Overtime Allowance in accordance with the provisions of the Bipartite Settlement and the bank's existing instructions.

📋 The applicable benefits will be provided to employees who attend their branches/offices and perform regular official duties on Sunday. Branches/offices have also been instructed to maintain appropriate attendance and duty-hour records for processing the payments.

🚨 BIG UPDATE: BANK UNIONS MEET DFS OVER SUNDAY WORKING | DEMAND WITHDRAWAL OR COMPENSATORY OFF + DOUBLE PAY

A significant development has emerged regarding the decision to designate Sunday, 27 September 2026, as a working day for banks.

Representatives of NOBW, NOBO, AIGBWO and AIGBO, along with the Financial Sector In-charge of BMS, stated in a communication dated 24 September 2026 that they held a meeting with the Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), New Delhi.

🏦 What did they raise in the meeting?

The organisations said they expressed serious concern over making 27 September (Sunday) a working day and presented their objections before the authorities.

💰 Major Demand: According to their communication, they demanded either:
