What a weekend!

3X Community 3XPERIENCE weekender’s been top notch 💯

dj voices closing day 1, so much different music was played in that room 👀

Got some VJing going for day 2 w/ a superb Rishi Sippy B2B Arman Menzies all nighter.

Custom work on TouchDesigner for this weekender, played around with particles & numbers+letters+characters (this was symbolic of the work 3X Community have been doing over the past few years to support the education of underprivileged girls with all profits from their shows)

Few core designs & settings + some other parameters mapped to a midi controller + audio input from the mixer for that audio reactivity goodness = a a constantly evolving, organic visualiser. Honestly I could played around with this for days at a stretch and it still wouldn’t feel monotonous

hey guyz am I a real artist now?

Life & times over the past few months.
Documenting for me to remember.
Judge? Ridicule? Understand? That’s upto you,
for now I merely observe & learn.

Most people I know would advise me against sharing this on social media. This isn’t how you build a brand. This isn’t how you showcase yourself as an artist. Don’t show weakness or imperfection. Don’t be human?

Anyways, I’m doing my research into me. The more I do it the more I understand how much more work & unlearning there is for me to do. This is barely step 1. Of a 1000 steps. This is also a step 1 generations before me haven’t taken, & it makes me wonder why? It’s frankly ridiculous that you haven’t. Go get diagnosed kids, do your research into yourself.

Fights galore along with learnings galore. Where’s the lie? Do your own internal work before you go and make all of it your kid’s problems to deal with, AS GENERATIONS BEFORE YOU HAVE DONE. Pray to god your kid doesn’t come with inbuilt pattern recognition & empathy with no off switch, or they’ll take all of your s**t on their head & grow into a hollow, fragile shell of a human being. Where’s the lie?

I’ll fight to be heard & understood till I can’t fight no more. All it means is that I care enough about you to keep you in my life while I grow, learn & change. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t waste my time trying to get through to you. I’m sure a lot of my old friends/peers who’ve cut me off can relate to this.

1. Work with friends (trying to but extremely difficult/damn near impossible in creative fields with zero organizational frameworks + undiagnosed neurodivergent brains will 9/10 times clash with each other and find it difficult to work in group settings).
2. Over deliver (damn near impossible if you’re at the tail end of years of depression & burnout. Where the f**k are you supposed to get the energy from to over deliver when you’re in survival mode? Can’t tell an anxious & afraid animal backed into a corner to “get over it” mate)
3. Surprise people (well surprise! Nobody’s perfect, everybody’s going through it, everybody’s playing life for the first time so nobody’s got all the answers. Heck most people haven’t

In the grand scheme of things I’m a nobody.
I’m a DJ, a producer, I basically throw events for a living. I work in entertainment & hospitality. I’m a paid people pleaser :)

Like I said, a nobody. I’m not here to voice my irrelevant opinions on the state of things right now. I’m here however to offer perspective you may feel free to ignore.

It’s my job to perform music in a manner that pleases people. It’s my job to exist as a comfortable, warm, open, honest & helpful space so that the people I cater to can feel free to take a breather from their own complex convoluted lives. Drop their guard a little, be a little more vulnerable, real, enjoy their life for a few hours in the company of someone that makes no difference in their lives apart from being a non-judgemental, open & understanding space (with hopefully similar music tastes hehe).

Now all this means is that I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand many people from multiple walks of life on different levels, and the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is this.

EVERYBODY IS FIGHTING THEIR OWN PERSONAL BATTLES.
In their homes, their jobs, their relationships & their minds.

I don’t say this to take away from the larger battles so many of us are fighting, locally, nationally & internationally. I say it however as a reminder. A reminder to be compassionate, warm & understanding to the people closest to us in these times.
Events I host or perform at will always strive towards these ideals, will strive to offer a brief respite for you, a place to regroup, maybe get a little rejuvenated by being around warm hugs, open ears & a few laughs. All in the hopes of helping you survive through to the next day, be able to live to fight another day.

Giving up isn’t an option. Taking care of yourself & those around you so that we can keep surviving until we can truly start living is. Arguably, this is the best way to bring more people together to fight the larger battles.

I’ll see you tomorrow for group therapy alongside people who strive to be as warm & welcoming as I do if not more. We will be waiting with hugs & good fu***ng house music 🫂
