Borivli will get two platforms, including one linked to the fifth and sixth lines towards Virar and another for the Harbour line extension. Virar will get an additional platform under the fifth and sixth-line project.
The fifth and sixth lines will help separate suburban and long-distance train movements, reducing conflicts and improving operational flexibility.
At Andheri, which handles around 4.5 lakh passengers and more than 1,000 suburban train movements daily, the expansion will be carried out in two phases. Platforms 4 and 5 will be extended, while platforms 6 and 7 will be upgraded to accommodate longer trains.
A new 12-coach double-discharge platform will also be added alongside the sixth line, improving passenger exits towards Andheri East.
Bengaluru’s property-record system is getting a digital upgrade with the launch of e-Aasthi 2.0, which will allow property owners to access and track several khata services online.
From September 28, owners of properties measuring up to 20,000 sq ft can apply online for khata bifurcation. The bifurcation plan and approach-road plan will have to be uploaded and approved online before the resulting e-Khatas are issued.
For properties above 20,000 sq ft, owners will have to relinquish 15 per cent of the land under town-planning rules. The government is also examining an option to pay the equivalent guidance value instead.
The upgraded system will cover name and property extent corrections, mutation, inheritance, new khata, bulk new khata, bifurcation and amalgamation.
Around 23 lakh of Bengaluru’s more than 35 lakh property records have been digitised and draft e-Khatas issued, while around 11 lakh owners have received final e-Khatas.
