Localism’s Disability Rights Program helps persons with disabilities access government entitlements, social security benefits, assistive support and essential documentation.
Over the past five years (up to August 2026), the program has supported 118 persons with disabilities and their families, facilitating benefits and assistance worth approximately ₹7,55,000.
Through the Disability Rights Program, Localism provides support in five key areas:
• Disability Certificates & UDID Cards: Helping persons with disabilities apply for new disability certificates and convert existing offline certificates into Universal Disability ID (UDID) cards.
• Assistive Devices: Facilitating access to government-supported assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches, battery-operated vehicles and tricycles.
• Disability Pensions: Assisting eligible persons with documentation, applications, verification and follow-up with concerned government departments to access disability pension benefits.
• Sponsorship Support for Children: Helping children from economically vulnerable families of persons with disabilities access the government sponsorship scheme of ₹4,000 per month, in coordination with the DCPU and CWC.
• Application & Follow-up Support: Assisting beneficiaries with document preparation, online applications, coordination with Panchayat, Block and District-level offices, and regular follow-up to help them access eligible benefits.
Localism works to make disability-related rights and government schemes more accessible, especially for people who face difficulties navigating administrative processes.

LEAD-R: Turning Rights into Reality
A right on paper becomes meaningful only when a person can actually access it.
Legal Education and Development Support to Ensure Rights, Localism works with children, women and communities to bridge the last-mile gap between public entitlements and the people they are meant to serve.
Our reported reach includes:
1,162 people reached through Sarkar Aapke Dwar
874 people through pension-related support
118 people reached through the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Scheme
265 people supported with online documentation services
The work can begin with something as simple but critical as a missing document. In one documented case, sustained facilitation helped a rural woman secure her disability certificate and finally access the pension for which she had long been eligible.
₹94.89 lakh credited directly to beneficiaries in last five years. LEAD-R is about making systems accessible, entitlements real and dignity possible.

🏠GHAR: Getting Home for Abandoned, Orphaned and Children at Risk
Every child deserves more than support. Every child deserves safety, belonging and the opportunity to dream.
Through GHAR, Localism works to ensure that vulnerable, orphaned and at-risk children can grow up in caring family environments while continuing their education and receiving the support they need.
Today, GHAR is supporting 44 vulnerable children across 23 families in Hazaribagh. Working with the Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit, children have also been linked with government sponsorship support, resulting in ₹37.21 lakh transferred directly to their bank accounts.
Beyond financial assistance, GHAR helps children access books and learning materials, return to school where needed, complete essential documentation and receive regular mentoring.
Because protecting childhood is not only about responding to vulnerability; it is about creating the stability from which a future can grow.
