It is a privilege to welcome Adv. Harish Salve, Former Solicitor General of India and Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Roorkee, who will preside over the Convocation Ceremony on 19 and 20 September 2026.

One of India's most distinguished legal minds, Adv. Salve served as Solicitor General of India and was appointed King's Counsel for the courts of England and Wales in 2020 — a rare honour for an Indian lawyer. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, his journey — from a chartered accountant to one of the most sought-after advocates in the world — reflects a lifetime of rigour, discipline and excellence.

As Chairman of the Board of Governors, his stewardship has guided IIT Roorkee through this Convocation and beyond, anchoring the Institute's academic and administrative leadership.
This year's Convocation will confer degrees upon 2,701 graduating students across its two days, celebrating years of advanced study, research, perseverance and discovery at the Institute.

For IIT Roorkee, having Adv. Salve preside over this important milestone is a reflection of the values of excellence, integrity and leadership that the Institute holds dear.

We look forward to his presence as the graduating class of 2026 comes together to mark the beginning of its next chapter.
