Found a hidden gem in Colaba! 🍫
Hey everyone! So, I finally visited this incredible place called Subko Cacao – The Cacao Mill in Colaba, and I had to share it with you guys. Tucked away on a quiet little lane called Pasta Lane (yes, literally!), this place is Mumbai’s very first chocolate factory!
Walking in felt like stepping into a whole new world – the smell of chocolate hits you instantly, sunlight pours in through these massive skylights, and you can actually watch giant machines grinding cacao beans right behind glass windows. It’s like W***y Wonka but make it aesthetic and Indian.
I made a little video capturing the vibe – from the live chocolate-making process to the insane coffee and those quirky experimental bars (they have a Podi Chutney chocolate bar, can you believe it?!). If you're ever in Colaba, skip the usual tourist spots and check this out. You’ll thank me later! Let me know what you think of the video! ❤️

Headline: 350 cafes. Today, barely 25 remain.
Last month, Mumbai lost another one. B Merwan & Co — a 112-year-old Irani cafe at Grant Road — served its final cup of chai on January 1, 2026.
When I heard that, I knew I had to tell this story properly.
These weren't just tea shops. They were built by Zoroastrian immigrants who fled persecution in Iran — specifically from the ancient city of Yazd — and turned cheap "sinh mukhi" (lion-faced) street corners into Bombay's democratic dining rooms. Mill workers, lawyers, taxi drivers, stock brokers... everyone drank from the same glass.
But the clock has been cruel. Rising rents, changing tastes, and a generation that didn't want to inherit the ladle have gutted this legacy.
However — and this is the part that gave me hope — there's a place in Thane called Irani Canteen. Opened in December 2022, it's deliberately NOT premium. No sanitization. No museum vibes. Just bentwood chairs, glass-topped tables, and chai that tastes like old Bombay.
I walked in with an empty stomach and a lot of nostalgia. We tried the Irani Chai, Bun Maska, Berry Pulao, and Kheema Pav. And I documented the entire journey — from history to the last bite.
I promise this isn't just another food review. It's a story about survival.

"Hidden between the chaos of Mumbai’s street food scene lies a sandwich so iconic, yet so overlooked — the original Bombay vegetable sandwich.
I came across a fantastic short documentary (just 7 minutes 38 seconds) called Mumbai Sandwich Secrets! History + Best Sandwich Spots in Mumbai. It completely changed how I see this simple snack.
Here’s what makes this video worth your time:
History you never knew – How a British import turned into a spicy, chutney-loaded desi marvel.
Two cult stalls – Raju Sandwich vs Mahindra Sadhguru Sandwich Stall. One is famous for its buttery, grilled cheese pull. The other holds onto the old-school raw-veggie-and-chutney magic.
Honest comparison – No fancy bias. The host tries both, side by side.
Whether you’re a Mumbaikar missing home or a food traveler planning your next trip, this video will make you hungry and informed. The 'secret' sandwich spot they reveal is something you won’t find in regular food blogs.
Highly recommended to watch before your next Mumbai visit."

From Cotton Mill Workers to Mumbai's Soul Food: The Untold History of Pav Bhaji + Manohar Pav Review"
Did you know Mumbai's beloved Pav Bhaji was born out of a famine? 🤯 We traced its incredible origin story from the 1850s cotton mills to the streets of today—and then we found the joint that's been serving the REAL deal since 1978. This is Manohar Pav. And this story will change how you look at your next plate forever.
Pav Bhaji isn't just butter-soaked bread and mashed veggies—it's a survival story. Born in the 1850s when the American Civil War crippled Mumbai's cotton mills, workers needed a cheap, filling, one-pot meal. What started as a practical solution became an emotion. Fast forward to today, and every corner claims "authentic" Pav Bhaji. But we went hunting for the truth.

Hey everyone! 👋
I've been working on something really special for my YouTube channel Culinary Cult, and I can't wait to share it with you all.
I visited a super famous Malvani restaurant in Mumbai called Mast Malvani — hidden away in Parel — and let me tell you, the food was an absolute explosion of flavors 🔥
Think: fiery fish curry, crispy vade, cooling sol kadhi, and spices you can still feel on your tongue 😅
I’ve put a lot of energy into this video — it's fun, real, and full of heart (and spice!). Would love for you to watch, share your thoughts, and maybe even crave some seafood along with me 🍛
Video drops soon. Stay tuned!
Love,
Rahul ❤️

Four Vegetarian Gems in Hyderabad 🍃
Hyderabad is a city known for its biryani and rich meat-based legacy. So when we set out to find great vegetarian food here, more than a few people wished us luck—rather than offering recommendations.
But luck, it turns out, wasn't needed. We found four exceptional vegetarian spots, each brilliant in its own way.
🌿 Kakinada Subbaya Gari Bhojanam – Authentic Andhra soul on a banana leaf. Their thali is an extravagant, home-style celebration—fiery, tangy, and deeply comforting.
🌿 The Veg Venjan – A pan-Indian vegetarian journey. From creamy North Indian curries to comforting South Indian rasam, this one's for big appetites and curious palates.
🌿 Khaadle – Crispy dosas with thoughtfully distinct chutneys, and a thali that's simple, balanced, and honest. No frills, just great food.
🌿 Ongole Vari Sahakari Bhojanam – For the daily eater. Clean, affordable, and reliably tasty. Perfect for students, working professionals, or anyone who values peace of mind with every bite.
From grand thalis to everyday tiffins, from Andhra fire to pan-Indian variety—Hyderabad surprised us in the best way.
If you've been to any of these (or have a favourite we should try next), we'd love to hear. And if you're ever in the city and craving a great vegetarian meal — you now know where to go.
Happy eating,
Rahul Francis Martis

Hey everyone! 👋
If you know me, you know I love good food – and if there’s one thing Hyderabad does better than biryani (yes, I said it), it’s a proper, soul-satisfying Thali. 🇮🇳🍛
So I set out on a delicious mission: find the three best Thalis in the city. I researched, I asked around, and most importantly – I ate (a lot). Then I put it all together in a little video I made and just uploaded on YouTube.
In this video, I take you along as I try three absolutely unforgettable Thalis – a hearty non-veg feasts. Expect honest opinions, lots of hungry moments

so I’d absolutely love your support. Watch it, share it with any fellow food lovers you know, and definitely let me know – what’s your favorite Thali spot in Hyderabad? I’m already planning part two!
Thanks for always cheering me on,
Rahul Francis Martis 🧡
