*Security Review Meeting Held in Bandipora Ahead of Independence Day-2026 Celebrations.*

Bandipora, August 10, 2026:
A comprehensive security review meeting was held in Bandipora today in connection with the forthcoming Independence Day-2026 celebrations. The meeting was attended by senior officers of Bandipora Police, Army, CAPFs and other sister security agencies.The DIG North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, Sh. Vinod Kumar-IPS chaired the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the overall security preparedness and arrangements for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the Independence Day celebrations across the district. Detailed discussions were held on deployment of security personnel, area domination, access control, traffic management, surveillance, checking and frisking, patrolling and coordination among various security agencies.

SSP Bandipora Sh Ajaz Ahmed Zargar briefed about the security measures already put in place and the preparedness for the days leading up to August 15. He apprised the meeting about intensified naka checking, frisking, patrolling and area domination being carried out at vulnerable and strategic locations across the Police District.
The prevailing security scenario was also reviewed in detail, with emphasis on identifying and securing vulnerable locations and ensuring effective preventive measures. The officers discussed various aspects of operational preparedness and measures required to address any emerging security challenge.

The DIG NKR stressed the importance of close coordination, continuous surveillance and timely sharing of intelligence inputs among all agencies. Directions were issued to maintain heightened alertness, strengthen security arrangements and ensure effective deployment of personnel during the celebrations.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the respected individuals who visited the residence of my brother-in-law, Late Mr. Ghulam Rasool Tanthare, at Wangan Pora, Eidgah, Srinagar, to offer their condolences, express sympathy, and participate in the gathering of prayers for the departed soul.

I am deeply thankful to all the distinguished members of various political and social organizations, friends, relatives, neighbours, and well-wishers, who stood by our family during this difficult and painful time and shared our grief with their presence, kindness, and prayers.

I would particularly like to express my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble MLA Sonawari, Mr. Hilal Akbar Lone, and all the esteemed members of Civil Society Sonawari and jk welfare forum, along with all other respected personalities, for taking the time to visit us, offer their condolences, and pay tribute to the departed soul. Their presence and heartfelt support during this difficult hour will always remain deeply appreciated and remembered.

Late Mr. Ghulam Rasool Tanthare was a noble, gentle, sincere, kind-hearted, and compassionate human being. He was widely respected for his simplicity, good character, humility, and dedication towards others. He had recently retired from the Power Development Department, after rendering his services with sincerity and commitment.

The presence of so many people from different walks of life in our hour of grief is a reflection of the love, respect, and goodwill that the departed soul had earned throughout his life.

May Allah Almighty forgive all his shortcomings, shower His countless mercies upon him, illuminate his grave with Divine Light, grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and bless him with eternal peace and salvation.

May Allah grant Sabr-e-Jameel (patience and strength) to all the bereaved family members and reward everyone who stood beside us, offered condolences, and prayed for the departed soul.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, I extend my deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to each and every person who visited us, shared our sorrow, and remembered the departed soul in their prayers.

AIP youth leader, dozens of workers join NC in Bandipora

Bandipora: Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) youth leader Omar Gazali along with dozens of party workers joined the National Conference (NC) in Bandipora on Friday.
The new entrants were welcomed into the party fold by NC District President Bandipora, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Sofi and Yourh district president Danish Bhat during a programme held in bandipora.
Welcoming the new members, Dr Sofi said their joining would further strengthen the party at the grassroots level and provide fresh impetus to the NC’s activities in Bandipora.
He expressed confidence that the National Conference would emerge victorious in the next Assembly elections in Bandipora, asserting that the party had strong support among the people.
The newly joined workers said they decided to join the NC after being convinced by its policies and commitment towards addressing the issues confronting the people.

Among others who attended the meeting were joint Secretary North Kashmir Tanveer Ahmad Bhutto, Youth District President Bandipora Danish Ahmad Bhat, Vice President Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Core Committee group head Gh Nabi and other senior party workers.
