ANC Pays Glowing Tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah
Srinagar, Sep 07: On the 44th death anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Awami National Conference President Begum Khalida Shah, Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah and the entire rank and file of the party paid glowing tributes to the towering leader, recalling his enduring contribution to the political and social history of Jammu & Kashmir.
The ANC leadership said the Sher-e-Kashmir was not merely a leader of his time but a leader who helped shape the political consciousness of an entire era. His name, it said, remains closely associated with courage, political awakening, social justice and the assertion of the dignity and rights of the people.
Recalling his historic struggle against feudalism and exploitation, the party said the Sher-e-Kashmir's political movement brought profound social and economic transformation to Kashmir.
The landmark "Land to the Tiller" reforms, it said, went beyond economic restructuring and restored dignity, security and a sense of ownership to generations of cultivators.
The party leadership said that the legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir represents a political tradition rooted in people's empowerment, secularism, social justice, democratic values and the protection of the political and constitutional identity of Jammu & Kashmir.
ANC rank and file also recalled the personal sacrifices made by the Sher-e-Kashmir throughout his political life, saying imprisonment, political adversity and prolonged periods of separation from his people could not diminish the affection and respect he commanded among generations of Kashmiris.
The party leadership said that 44 years after his passing, the name of the Sher-e-Kashmir continues to resonate deeply in the collective memory of Jammu & Kashmir. His political legacy, it said, remains a source of inspiration for those who believe that politics must serve the people, leadership must safeguard dignity and the aspirations of a people must never be erased from history.
"His era may have passed, but his imprint on Kashmir's history remains indelible. His voice may have fallen silent, but the ideals for which he stood continue to echo through generations," the leadership said.
On this occasion, Begum Khalida Shah, Muzaffar Shah and the entire Awami National Conference rank and file paid their heartfelt and glowing tributes to the immortal memory of the Sher-e-Kashmir.
Humble tributes to the Sher-e-Kashmir.

Another Threat to Kashmiri Pandits in Two Weeks, Muzaffar Shah Questions Claims of “Normalcy”
Srinagar, August 24: Awami National Conference Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah has expressed grave concern over yet another threat to Kashmiri Pandits within a span of just two weeks, calling the development “harrowing” and raising serious questions over repeated claims of normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir.
Shah said the safety of Kashmiri Pandits cannot be reduced to a mere “security issue,” stressing that it concerns precious human lives and carries a direct responsibility for those at the helm of affairs. He questioned how such threats continue to emerge despite assurances of improved security and normalcy in the region.
Calling for greater accountability, Shah urged the Union Home Ministry to take the matter seriously and ensure that the safety and security of Kashmiri Pandits remain an uncompromising priority.
“Another threat to Kashmiri Pandits within just two weeks is harrowing. What happened to the claims of normalcy?” Shah said, insisting that responsibility must be fixed and concrete measures taken to prevent further threats to the community.
