This diamond site is on page two of google. and we can see exactly why it's struggling.
we searched "best diamond sellers in the UK," the exact words a real buyer would type. scrolled past the ads, past page one, and found this site sitting on page two.
getting found is only step one. what happens after the click is a different problem entirely.
the hero shows beautiful rings and a category label. but nothing says what to do next, and there's no button anywhere inside it.
the nav has all the right categories, engagement, wedding, eternity, earrings, pendants. but it's a flat list of links, nothing to narrow by carat, price, or metal.
and here's the biggest one. real rings, real prices, sitting right there. but no "view ring," no "add to cart," nothing telling you what to do with what you're looking at.
ranking and converting are two different games. a page can target the right keywords and still lose the visitor in five seconds. and if people land, don't engage, and leave, that eventually hurts the ranking too.
the rings are already beautiful. the page just needs to ask for the sale.
ranking is not the same as converting.

same market. same parents. completely different first impression.
we searched "best kindergarten online course us," the exact words a real parent would type. two sites came up. here's what happened when we opened both.
site one leads with a 4.9 rating from 1.5 million reviews, then backs it up with named parent reviews. site two has zero reviews, zero ratings, anywhere.
every class on site one shows the exact price right next to it. site two never mentions cost at all, you'd have to click deeper or contact them just to find out.
site one shows real teachers, exact ages, exact schedules. site two repeats the same paragraph about "engaging curriculum" without ever showing an actual course.
site one lets you filter by age, subject, and schedule in seconds. site two is just a long scroll of text blocks and stock style graphics.
four gaps. one reason people trust one site and bounce off the other.

can your website pass the 5 second test?
61% of users will leave a website if they can't figure out what it does in 5 seconds. that's not an opinion, that's the standard ux research holds every landing page to.
so we ran the test on a real page.
searched the exact words a real applicant would type. the page that showed up promised finance and accounting content. what actually loaded said "courses" and showed 462 results, starting alphabetically.
the loudest thing on the page was jargon. a hot pink banner grabbing all the attention, saying something that means nothing to a first time visitor.
three different ctas were competing for the same click, and none of them were the priority.
twelve nav items sat between the visitor and any actual reason to stay.
and nowhere on the page was there a real reason to choose them. no accreditation, no ranking, no proof.
five small changes could fix all of it. none of them need a rebuild. just a reorder.
can your audience understand what your business does in 5 seconds?

mayo clinic ranks #1 on google for the exact words a buyer types.
and their site still has 4 things quietly killing sign ups.
we ran the test ourselves. searched "best medical courses in usa." mayo clinic showed up right where you'd expect, top of the page, dream position.
then we opened the site.
the hero section is one giant image and a headline. no button. nothing to click. visitors either scroll past it or leave, there's no third option.
eight things are fighting for the same click. logo, sign up, cart, five nav links. nothing tells a visitor what to do first.
the nav bar sits below the hero instead of above it. by the time someone scrolls past the photo, they've already decided whether to stay.
and there's zero trust before the ask. no testimonials, no proof, straight into course listings.
ranking #1 gets you the click. it doesn't get you the sign up.

part 1 covered 6 things changing on websites in 2026.
this is the other 6. and #12 is the one almost nobody fixes.
most sites get redesigned to "look better."
that's not what actually moves the needle.
the sites winning right now are built as systems, not one off pages. they use trust signals at the exact moment someone hesitates. they're built for accessibility. and they're structured for how ai search actually reads a page now.
none of it matters if you're not measuring it though. that's the part almost every business skips.
if your site looks fine but isn't converting, it's not a design problem. it's a structure problem.

Your traffic is fine. Your website isn't converting it. Here's why π
Most people think a website redesign is about making things "look nicer."
It's not.
In 2026, the sites that actually convert are fixing 6 specific leaks: things most business owners never even notice are broken.
I broke down all 6 in this video.
The 7th one (in Part 2, coming next) is the one almost nobody fixes, and it's usually the biggest reason people bounce.
