Tracking Out-Of-Equilibrium Growth of Bimetallic Nanoalloys Using Deep Learning and X-ray Scattering Reconstructing the growth of metallic nanoparticles in real time remains a long-standing challenge, particularly for nanoalloy systems that exhibit complex atomic spatial arrangements and display structures and properties distinct from those of pure metal particles. Here, we present a methodology th...

Ultra-fast Total Scattering and PDFs at the European XFEL through a huge collaboration across Europe!
Using a tilted detector at the HED instrument, we have achieved high-quality ultra-fast total scattering and pair distribution function data using an X-ray free-electron laser on a range of samples, including crystalline, nanocrystalline, and amorphous solids, liquids, and clusters in solution.
Additionally, we perform a variety of structural analyses and compare our data to synchrotron measurements.
Pre-print available on arXiv!
High-Quality Ultra-Fast Total Scattering and Pair Distribution Function Data using an X-ray Free Electron Laser High-quality total scattering data, a key tool for understanding atomic-scale structure in disordered materials, require stable instrumentation and access to high momentum transfers. This is now routine at dedicated synchrotron instrumentation using high-energy X-ray beams, but it is very challengin...

Our first AI and total scattering combined study for quantum dots
A deep learning approach for quantum dots sizing from wide-angle X-ray scattering data - npj Computational Materials Disclosing the full potential of functional nanomaterials requires the optimization of synthetic protocols and an effective size screening tool, aiming at triggering their size-dependent properties. Here we demonstrate the successful combination of a wide-angle X-ray total scattering approach with a...

The characterization of the excited states of semiconductors is now possible with ultrafast scattering experiments
Coupling to octahedral tilts in halide perovskite nanocrystals induces phonon-mediated attractive interactions between excitons - Nature Physics Time-resolved measurements show that coupling between electrons and phonons in lead halide perovskites can mediate attractive interactions between excitons, although the interaction strength depends on the specific material.
