Avantea - Equine Assisted Reproduction
Avantea Srl is a laboratory of advanced technologies for animal reproduction and biotechnology research.
Avantea is a laboratory of advanced technologies for biotechnology research and animal reproduction. The activity of this laboratory began in 1991 with Cesare Galli and Giovanna Lazzari. In 2008 it became Avantea Srl, inheriting all the skills and expertise built in about twenty years of activity and the know-how developed through years of research conducted in the biomedical and animal reproduction fields. Credibility and experience make Avantea a reliable and highly specialized center, which aims to find innovative solutions in the field of reproductive biotechnology for livestock breeding and biomedicine. Avantea research activity is assessed by an independent Ethics Committee, which includes leading experts in animal health and welfare, bioethics, genetics, law and forensic medicine and it is in agreement with the guidelines for the application of Article 48 of the Ethics Code of the National Federation of Italian Veterinarians. The right breeding decision starts with the right choice of stallion.🐎
Avantea’s semen bank brings together more than 1,500 stallions for ICSI, including leading international bloodlines. Behind every choice is the careful storage, monitoring and traceability of the semen used in our laboratory.

Every embryo begins long before OPU. 🍃
Before oocyte collection takes place, there is a process that includes veterinary evaluations, health testing, planning and documentation.
The veterinarian confirms that the donor mare has an adequate number of follicles, the required tests are completed, and the stallion is selected. An essential step is also obtaining semen-use authorizations and submitting all necessary documentation.
Only when every detail is in place can the journey begin.
Because the success of an OPU-ICSI program depends just as much on preparation as it does on laboratory expertise.🔬🐎
The third episode of Avantea Legacy in Sport tells the story of Heavens Gate and his rider Nicolò Viviani.
A nine-year-old stallion by Monti Obolensky, out of Quana One de l’Eaugrenée (Kannan GFE), Heavens Gate was born through Avantea’s assisted reproductive technologies and has developed into an international Grand Prix horse, recently finishing fifth with a double clear in the 1.55m Grand Prix at CSIO EEF Drammen.
His journey embodies the very purpose of Avantea Legacy in Sport: to show how horses born years ago through Avantea’s reproductive technologies are now competing at international level, turning carefully selected bloodlines and advanced reproductive science into results that can be seen in the arena.
Because the true legacy of innovation is what happens when those horses enter the ring.

The Avantea Legacy continues. 🏆
Another remarkable result for an Avantea horse at the highest level of young horse sport.
Noémie d’Ecaussinnes, ridden by Guillaume Batillat, has been crowned French Champion of the 7-Year-Olds at Fontainebleau, climbing from fifth place with a double clear in the final.
By the legendary Cassini I out of Cocoshynsky, herself a successful sport mare, Noémie combines outstanding genetics with a path that began years ago through assisted reproduction at Avantea.
Behind her success is the breeding vision of Evelyne Studvv, now rewarded on one of the most prestigious stages for young horses.
But there is much more behind Noémie’s success.
In an upcoming episode of The Avantea Legacy, our series celebrating horses born through Avantea’s reproductive technologies and their achievements in sport, we’ll go back to where it all began: her pedigree, the breeding vision behind her and the path that took her to the top of her generation.
Because the best way to tell the story of our work is to see where it can lead.
The Avantea Legacy.
The proof is in the sport.
👏🏻Congratulations to Noémie d’Ecaussinnes, Guillaume Batillat, Evelyne Studvv, and everyone who has contributed to this remarkable achievement.
