Joe Hisaishi’s Harp Concerto - Movement 2 is out now.

Joe Hisaishi’s Symphony No. 3 ‘Metaphysica’ & Harp Concerto arrives on the 24th of July 2026 and is available for pre-order today.

A world premiere recording with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and celebrated harpist Emmanuel Ceysson, the album pairs two major orchestral works written and conducted by Hisaishi himself.

The Harp Concerto was jointly commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Philharmonie de Paris, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Written with Ceysson’s bold, distinctive playing in mind, it pushes past the harp’s traditional role with rhythmic urgency and a striking, energetic finale.

Symphony No. 3 ‘Metaphysica’ was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of the New Japan Philharmonic. Structured across three movements, the symphony explores what Hisaishi describes as “sonic movement,” drawing on tightly woven orchestral frameworks that expand into vivid and expressive musical landscapes.
