PROGRAM
Contact Staff Workshop
2 Days / 4 Modules (2 hours each)

This intensive workshop is structured over two days and divided into four modules of two hours each. The program is designed to deepen body awareness, technical skills, and creative exploration with the contact staff.

Module 1 – Body Exploration in Relation to the Staff
We will explore the body’s relationship with the staff through balance work, rhythm changes, level changes, speed and slowness, out-of-balance dynamics, isolations, throws, and slides. The focus is on developing sensitivity, coordination, and fluid transitions between movement qualities.

Module 2 – Floorwork with the Staff
This module is dedicated to floorwork techniques, integrating the staff into grounded movement patterns. We will explore pathways to and from the floor, fluid transitions, and how to maintain flow and control while working at a lower level.

Module 3 – Fishtails, Stalls & Out-of-Balance
A technical deep dive into fishtails, stalls, and out-of-balance positions. We will analyze control, precision, timing, movement, and tosses.

Module 4 – Shared Practice, Creativity & Staff Doctor (Fix Your Tricks)
This final module will focus on shared practice, creative exploration, and a dedicated “Staff Doctor” session (fix your tricks), where we will troubleshoot techniques, refine details, and address individual questions. Participants will be encouraged to integrate techniques into their own movement language and develop personal sequences.
