🌍 Today is World Nature Conservation Day, a reminder that protecting our planet and advancing rights, equality and decent work are inseparable goals.

Climate change doesn't affect everyone equally. Women, especially those facing intersecting forms of discrimination, are often among the most exposed to climate-related risks. And yet they are also key drivers of change, in adaptation, resilience, food systems, natural resource management and community responses. For climate action to be truly effective, gender equality must be integrated from the start.

That's why we're excited to share this opportunity:
🎓 Promoting Gender Equality in Climate Action: Pathways to a Just Transition

This four-week online course is built for changemakers working on climate action, gender equality, decent work, social dialogue and sustainable development.
You will:
- Explore the gender, climate, just transition nexus and international policy frameworks
- Learn how to mainstream gender in NDCs
- Exchange with global experts and peers across sectors
- Build a concrete action plan and earn an ITCILO Certificate of Participation

💡 Limited partial fellowships available for participants from ODA countries, apply by 31 August 2026 to be considered. https://www.itcilo.org/courses/promoting-gender-equality-climate-action-pathways-just-transition

From 13 to 24 July, ITCILO, in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), delivered the Diplomacy for Development programme for 25 young diplomats from the State of Palestine. 🇵🇸

Over two weeks in Turin and Rome, the programme combined academic insights with practical learning to strengthen participants' skills in diplomacy, negotiation, leadership, and development partnerships. Participants engaged with distinguished diplomats and academics while exploring key topics like geopolitics, economic diplomacy, migration, and the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

The initiative also included visits to Italian and international institutions to offer first-hand insights into multilateral cooperation. A major highlight was a session by H.E. Ambassador Mona Abuamara, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Italy, on the role of diplomacy in engaging the Palestinian diaspora. 🏛️💼

By investing in this new generation of diplomats, the initiative successfully worked to strengthen international dialogue, foster partnerships, and equip participants to address today's global challenges. 🌍

How do we ensure that development projects truly benefit the communities they are built in?

When social risks go unmanaged, local families face displacement, unfair labour practices and health risks. Social safeguards are the tools that protect communities from these harms.
If you work in development, planning, or community oversight, our new practical programme is built for you. We focus on hands-on skills to handle fair resettlement, local labor rights, and community protection from project inception.

Format: Blended (Online + Face-to-Face in Turin, Italy)
Languages: English & French
Dates: 19 October – 13 November 2026
