Studio65
Studio65 of arch. Franco Audrito is a studio of architecture and interior design in Turin, Italy. The Canella House is defined as "an Olympus on the 4th floor".
Franco Audrito founds Studio65 in Turin in 1965, a group of avant-garde and experimentation gathering a team of artists, painters, photographers, aspiring filmmakers, all of them students at the Faculty of Architecture. Studio65 immediately becomes a circle in which these young people meet, discuss the liberation of man and the world from all forms of oppression; like all young people, they're so

CASA AUDRITO
A PALLADIAN VILLA IN PECETTO, 1970
Commissioned to design a small villa to be sited on a hillside near Turin, Studio65 came up with a building that constituted a marked polemical contrast to the widespread fashion for ersatz farmhouses, which deployed the popular-vernacular architectural tropes of clay-brick roof tiles, facing bricks and faux barns. The studio opted for a centred, symmetrical Palladian villa, which allowed for the play of illustrious geometric solids: cubes, spheres and truncated pyramids, assembled by simple superposition. (F.A.)
It was 1973, and the imminent birth of Valentina Audrito, daughter of Franco and Nanà, inspired Franco to imagine a way of sharing his creative world with her.
“Designing something for her meant inviting her into my world of expression and creativity, where profession and life became one."
And so Baby-lonia was born: a world of shapes to build, unbuild and reinvent. A toy, an architecture of the imagination.
A companion who has grown up alongside her.

Villa al Mare M.J., 1987
Every project from Studio65 begins with a collection of research, references, and sketches.
For the iconic seaside villa, Studio65 imagined a meeting between the Mediterranean and California: shaded verandas, open interiors, filtered light, and a sense of living suspended between house and landscape.

A Radical Story Started in 1965 – still ongoing..
In the year of our Lord 1965 (back in the Age of the Christian Democrats), a group of young architecture students, who thought they might become architects when “they grew up”, decided, after catching a glimpse of the world of “grown-ups” (in general), that they did indeed want to become architects, but without “growing up”.
To make this dream come true they decided to follow Peter Pan’s example and build their own secret island called Studio65.
