It was a pleasure to have Ms. Aya Adam, Legal Consultant at the Egypt Office, attend the Adams & Adams Africa Network Meeting 2026, representing One World Intellectual Property’s North African presence.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues and partners from across the African network, exchange insights, strengthen professional relationships, and explore opportunities for greater collaboration across the region.

On Thursday, 3 September 2026, we had an insightful session on the Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge (GRATK) Treaty and its impact on intellectual property, with a particular focus on the patent system. 🌿📚⚖️

The session was led by Ms. Khawla Al Banna, Patent Examination & Analytics Manager, who provided valuable insights into the key aspects of the Treaty, its implications for patent protection, and the evolving relationship between genetic resources, traditional knowledge, and intellectual property rights.

A valuable and engaging discussion that enhanced our understanding of this important development in the global IP landscape. 🌍💡
