When we give every girl and woman the chance to learn, we give communities the chance to grow.

Literacy builds confidence. It opens doors to opportunity and gives people the knowledge they need to make informed choices at home, at work, and in their communities.

For girls and women, literacy can mean greater independence, better opportunities, and the ability to shape a brighter future for themselves and the people around them.

And when more people get the chance to learn, families become stronger, communities grow more resilient, and we move closer to a future where everyone can contribute, thrive, and prosper.

This International Literacy Day, let’s keep creating opportunities to learn for every girl, every woman, and everyone.

Women’s Equality Day is a good reminder that the fight for equality did not stop at independence. Kenyan women have come a long way, from voting rights in 1963 to the two-thirds gender rule in the 2010 Constitution.

And we are still pushing for real representation, equal pay, safety, and respect in every space.

To every woman making space for herself and for those coming after her, your voice matters. Your progress matters. And every step forward makes the path a little easier for the next woman.

Here's to Women's Equality Day.

Young people may come from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds, but they share common aspirations: good health, quality education, meaningful participation in society and, most importantly, decent work opportunities that can secure their future.

If you want a certain future, go out and create it. Concur your fears as that is what enslaves women.

Before we get into our own problems today, let’s talk about one that keeps stealing futures in silence.

Human trafficking is organized crime. There’s nothing right about taking someone’s freedom—their right to choose, to grow up safe, to love, dream, and just exist without fear.

Yet it happens every single day.

Behind every statistic is a person whose life got interrupted. A child robbed of innocence. A family still searching. A survivor carrying wounds no one else can see. This isn’t just exploitation. It’s profit made from human suffering, run by criminal networks that treat people like commodities instead of human beings.

Today, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, awareness alone isn’t enough. We need stronger action, better protection for victims, and real accountability for the ones who profit from it.

No one should have to fight for a freedom they were born with.

Human trafficking is organized crime. End the exploitation.

Strength isn't the absence of struggle—it's moving forward despite it.

Chess teaches patience, critical thinking, discipline, and resilience. Just as a pawn can be underestimated, so too can the potential of a girl. Yet with the right opportunities, support, and determination, she can rise, lead, and transform her future. This International Chess Day, let's continue creating spaces where every girl can make her next move with confidence.

Ending GBV starts with us. It’s about choosing communication over abuse, speaking up when we see violence, supporting survivors without judgment, and building communities where everyone actually feels safe and valued.

If we all do our part, we can create a future where equality isn’t just something we talk about—it’s how we actually live. Let’s make it happen together! "
