African Renaissance

Zambia's Results-Based Financing (RBF) reform, studied across 12 districts via 44 stakeholder interviews, links financial transfers to verified health outcomes, reorienting accountability between payers and providers.

We argue: African policymakers should design RBF schemes with robust sub-national governance, adaptive incentive structures, and proactive equity safeguards thereby ensuring RBF funds remain additional to baseline government health allocations.

The Africa Water Vision 2063 promises "a water secure and resilient Africa with safe sanitation for all." But inclusion does not happen by default, it must be deliberate.

Inclusion is not an add-on. Consulting communities is not enough. Power, access and benefits must move to communities.

Different Contexts, Common Aspirations

Different sets of obstacles but with one remarkably consistent answer when you ask young people what they want:
- Dignity
- Decent work
- An education worth its cost
- Health that doesn't depend on luck
- A real say in the decisions that govern their lives.

Africa doesn't lack commitments to its young people. What differs is the fiscal space, the capacity, the data - and the will to turn a signed promise into a funded programme.

Different contexts. Common aspirations. Common accountability.

The African Renaissance Trust (ART) convened a panel discussion during the ECOSOCC Citizens’ Forum held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 24–25 July 2025.

Under the theme “Africa’s Voice in a Changing Global Order: From Reform to Citizen-Centred Action,” Caroline Kwamboka, Trustee/Director of the African Renaissance Trust, led a dynamic session that fostered frank and forward-looking dialogue.

The discussion explored how Africa can transition from reform-oriented debates to practical, citizen-centred action, while linking critical conversations on global governance, financial justice, artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty, climate action, reparative justice, human rights, and civil society participation.

The session featured insightful contributions from distinguished speakers, including:

* Dr Jide Okeke, Director of the Regional Programme for Africa, UNDP RSCA
* Ms Dadirayi Madzima, Executive Director of Rozaria Memorial Trust and GIMAC Young Women’s Cluster Lead

Together, the panel offered valuable perspectives on strengthening Africa’s voice and advancing inclusive, citizen-driven solutions in an evolving global landscape.
