🚌 DEMOCRACY ON WHEELS: TAKING CIVIC EDUCATION CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE!
Yesterday, we took Democracy on Wheels to Gatunga and Kathwana Markets in Tharaka Nithi County, bringing civic education and conversations on democratic participation directly to the community.
The outreach provided an opportunity for citizens to engage, ask questions and learn more about their rights and responsibilities as citizens, electoral processes, public participation and the importance of making informed choices in governance.
We were pleased to have the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) participate in the activity and engage directly with community members, providing important information and responding to questions around electoral processes.
From the marketplace to the community, democracy works best when citizens are informed, engaged and empowered to participate.
A big thank you to the residents of Gatunga and Kathwana for their active participation and to IEBC and all partners who made the outreach possible.

Reflecting on Progress, Strengthening Accountability!

Yesterday, we held a Review and Reflection Meeting under the Strengthening Electoral Participation for Accountable Governance in Tharaka Nithi County project.

The meeting brought together project beneficiaries and key stakeholders, including representatives from the County Government, National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), cultural leaders, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

🤝 The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made over the past six months, share experiences and lessons learned, identify emerging challenges, and explore strategies to strengthen inclusive civic participation, electoral accountability, and citizen engagement in governance processes.

Through collaboration and collective reflection, we continue to build a more informed, inclusive, and empowered citizenry that actively participates in shaping governance and holding leaders accountable.

Together, we are strengthening citizen voices for accountable governance in Tharaka Nithi County!

What Really Matters When Choosing a Leader?
As we prepare for important decisions about our leadership and future, let’s look beyond campaign slogans, promises and personalities.
Before supporting any candidate, ask yourself:
🔹 What issues are they addressing?
Jobs? Education? Health? Water? Roads? Security?
🔹 What will they actually do?
Look beyond campaign promises and ask for clear, practical solutions.
🔹 Can they deliver?
Is what they are promising realistic and within the responsibilities of the position they seek?
🔹 How will they pay for it?
A good promise needs a realistic plan and resources to make it happen.
🔹 What have they done before?
Look at their actions, record and results—not just what they say during campaigns.
🔹 Will they be accountable?
Will they listen to citizens; explain their decisions and report on the commitments they make?
👉 Your vote is your voice. Make it an informed choice.
Let’s promote issue-based, inclusive and accountable political participation where citizens focus on the solutions and leadership they want to see in their communities.
Don’t just choose a candidate. Choose the solutions you want to see.

❓ What should we demand before the Bill is passed?
