We were delighted to host a lecturer from HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, during their recent visit to Slum Child Foundation

The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our partnership and reflect on the meaningful work accomplished through our student placement program. Last year, we had the privilege of hosting HAN University social work students for a six-month attachment, during which they worked closely with our team and communities, gaining valuable practical experience while making a positive impact in the lives of children and families.

It was inspiring to welcome our guests and showcase the environment where their students lived, learned, and contributed. Such partnerships continue to foster cross-cultural learning, professional growth, and shared commitment to social transformation.

We are grateful to HAN University for their trust, collaboration, and dedication to preparing future social workers who are passionate about creating positive change across the world.

🎬 Learning Beyond the Classroom at Slum Child Foundation 🎬

This weekend, our children enjoyed an inspiring film session as part of our ongoing Life Skills Program. Through carefully selected films, we create opportunities for children to learn valuable lessons on resilience, decision-making, teamwork, leadership, empathy, and positive values in an engaging and enjoyable way.

At Slum Child Foundation, we believe that every experience can be a learning opportunity. By combining entertainment with education, we help children develop the confidence, critical thinking skills, and character needed to navigate life's challenges and build a brighter future.

Seeing the children interact, share their reflections, and connect the film's lessons to their own lives was truly rewarding.

Together, we are nurturing informed, empowered, and responsible young people—one life lesson at a time.

Today, we celebrate the men who lead with love, protect with courage, and inspire through their actions.

To every father, stepfather, grandfather, guardian, mentor, coach, uncle, and father figure thank you for the sacrifices you make, the wisdom you share, and the hope you give to the next generation.

Slum Child Foundation we are truly grateful for the support from all the actors both state and non state actors working with children who joined hands together to mark the day of the Africa Child Celebrations in Nairobi County. We were truly humbled to have the county commissioner grace the event.

DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD 2026

Today, we commemorate the Day of the African Child, honoring the brave children of the 1976 Soweto Uprising whose courage continues to inspire the fight for children's rights across Africa.

This year's theme is: Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa

Access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene is not a privilege—it is a fundamental right for every child. Yet millions of children across Africa still face barriers that affect their health, education, dignity, and future opportunities.
