Dress Your Career/Profession Day at Inua Binti!

What better way to prepare for your dream than to dress for it and learn how to get there?

At Inua Binti, we had the pleasure of hosting Priscah who is an experienced HR professional who simplified CV and cover letter writing and shared practical tips on the dos and don’ts of job interviews. She was joined by Madam Aor from Zuri School who brought valuable insights and real-life experiences from an employer’s perspective.

One of our favourite moments was hearing a participant say:

"The cyber guy will not be getting any of my coins soon ! I thought this was very complicated, but now I can do it myself."

This is what Inua Binti is all about, equipping young women with practical skills, building their confidence and empowering them to take charge of their futures, one skill at a time!

Last week, we welcomed a special guest Jessica Flynn a Canadian educator and the founder of The You Power Project to an Inua Binti session courtesy of Canada-Mathare Education Trust .

She shared her journey, spoke about social entrepreneurship, and connected deeply with our participants as she answered their questions and shared insights from her work in youth empowerment.

Thank you for the inspiring conversation and for offering to support our participants whenever they need you. We truly appreciate you taking the time to learn, listen, and share with us.

Inua Binti participants kicked off training, we begun with Personal Leadership training, knowing yourself and the room showed up.

No lecture could've taught what they shared,their perspective on what leadership is to them: leading is about, arriving on time so others follow. It's being the first one up doing chores so your siblings learn. It's standing at the front of a room, even when your knees are shaking.

"When I stood at the front, I felt so much courage."

That's what leadership looks like for young girls in Mathare. Not waiting for permission. Showing up daily, for your family, your household, yourself and your future.

Yesterday, something beautiful happened!

PaaMoja Initiative , Oasis Mathare , and Dare to Dream Africa came together to welcome a new cohort of Inua Binti participants into their journey , not just as participants, but as young women stepping into their own power.

We were honoured to have two invited guests who shared pieces of their own journeys with us. From Canada-Mathare Education Trust , Esther Njenga, spoke about her personal journey through motherhood and the resilience it takes to rise as a woman of substance amid life's challenges, joined by her colleague Carol Muasya - Macharia , who has walked alongside young girls in community work for years, who talked about gender roles. From Wanawake Mashinani Initiative - W.M.I , our second guest, Beatrice Amathi spoke honestly about the realities many women face, and how choosing herself, even when it was hard, became her turning point.

Their stories reminded our new participants of something simple but powerful: your journey is yours to write. As Tito Papito puts it, "Tell your own story."

To our new Inua Binti participants ,welcome. We see you, we believe in you, and we're walking this with you.
