For Rangers
ForRangers is a campaign that supports wildlife rangers in Africa by taking on the most challenging endurance events on the planet.
‘For Rangers’ are a dedicated group of individuals who are raising money for the welfare of rangers who risk their lives daily to protect Africa’s endangered species. Rather than just tell the story – the “For Rangers” team hope that by taking part in some of the hardest, most challenging endurance events on the planet, they can draw attention not only to the plight of Africa’s wildlife and the poaching crisis, but the hardships and dangers the rangers are exposed to in trying to protect our wildlife - and in doing so, raise funds that go directly to rangers’ welfare. WHAT WE’VE DONE
The For Rangers team consists of individuals from Kenya, Tanzania, UK, and as far away as New Zealand. So far the Running For Rangers team have taken part in some of the worlds toughest ultra marathons: The Marathon des Sables, The Jungle Ultra in Peru, and Fire & Ice in Iceland, and the epic 6633 in the artic circle, as well as numerous marathons, half marathons and Tough Mudders. The Kayaking For Rangers team recently completed the Yukon 1000 – a 10 day 1000mile kayak down the Yukon River. The Riding For Rangers team endured a similar distance over 10 days in the Mongolian Derby. Between them the team has raised over $500,000 to date - every cent of which goes to the needs of the Rangers on the frontline of protecting wildlife in Africa. Team Members:Peter Newland, Hollie Woodhouse, Sam Taylor, Jacqueline Manson, Joss Craig, Matthew Hill, Ryan Pape, Keith Roberts, Holly Winser, Deborah Beaton, Shaun Leavy, Harry Dyer, Davey Hughes, Jamie Gaymer, Lorian McCullum.
Race day is here.
This morning, wildlife and marine rangers, including 166 teams, across 21 African countries, are on the start line for the 21km, carrying up to 22kg of kit - all part of the Wildlife Ranger Challenge. Hub events are underway at Lewa in Kenya, Kruger and Zuka in South Africa, Kafue in Zambia and Murchison Falls in Uganda as well as other races in many other countries.
Many of these teams have been training for this since July.
We’ll be sharing results and moments from across the continent over the coming days in our posts and stories. Please support the rangers if you can and donate via the link in our bio. Thanks to founding donor markscheinberg, every donation is matched, so your support goes twice as far.

An elephant day on Borana. 🐘
Day 2 of the For Rangers Ultra delivered an unforgettable wildlife encounter, with close to 150 elephants crossing the runners’ path, giving them a front-row view of one of Africa’s most incredible sights.
And the elephants weren’t alone a huge herd of buffalo also made an appearance as the runners crossed Borana Conservancy.
Moments like these are a powerful reminder of the wild places, and the wildlife, that rangers work tirelessly to protect every day.
A huge thank you to Borana Conservancy for welcoming the For Rangers Ultra and making these incredible encounters possible.
For Rangers. For Wildlife. For the Wild. 🐘🦬🌍

As the sun rises over Borana Conservancy, the runners are back on the trail for another day of the For Rangers Ultra.
The legs are tired, but the purpose remains strong. One sunrise, one step and one kilometre at a time.

MOUNT KENYA IS BURNING. WE NEED YOUR HELP !!!
Mount Kenya Trust
A wildfire was detected at Kibiaranyeki on 1 September. Since then, teams from Mount Kenya Trust, KFS, KWS, Ntimaka CFA, Lewa, Rhino Ark and Rutundu have been fighting relentlessly to contain the flames. Coordination and aerial support have also been provided by Lewa, Borana and others.
Driven by dry vegetation and strong winds, the fire is splitting and rapidly spreading towards Chogoria.
Our trained rangers and community teams are on the mountain, working in steep, harsh terrain, through long hours, using fire beaters, rakes and protective gear.
But they cannot do this alone.
💧 Water
🥛 Milk & bread
⛽ Fuel for vehicles accessing the fire
🚁✈️Aerial support
Some of these may seem like simple things, but right now, they are essential to keeping our teams on the ground and fighting. Together, we are feeding around 300 people per day.
Please help us support the men and women protecting Mount Kenya.

Every contribution helps keep the teams moving. Every share can bring more support.
