It’s funny how when the broad-based government won those by-elections in Mbeere North, Banisa, Malava, Magarini, Emurua Dikirr, Baringo, Ugunja, and Kasipul, you guys quickly said it wasn’t a true reflection of the ground.

But now Ol Kalau’s by-election result is suddenly “the voice of the people”?

Why the double standards?

United Opposition winning Ol Kalau is like UDA winning in Elgeyo Marakwet ,it’s their home ground.

Let’s keep the same energy.

On 25th March 2026, a Grade 10 student from Braeburn Garden Estate International School in Nairobi visited the Senate as part of her school’s week-long voluntary service program. Think of it as a polished version of “take your child to work day” — except instead of trailing exhausted parents through cramped offices, privileged students get front-row exposure to the country’s political elite.
During the session, Senator Karen Nyamu rose to welcome the student and remarked:
“Madam, welcome to the Senate. And Mr. Speaker, probably you should have made it clear which service to the Senate she is offering, because I saw Honorable Senator Cherargei getting very excited when he saw a lady…”
The remark drew criticism for sexualizing a minor in a public institution meant to embody dignity, leadership, and national values.
What makes the incident more striking is who made the statement. Karen Nyamu is a nominated senator whose office exists under the banner of affirmative representation — championing women’s rights, youth empowerment, and social justice. She is also an Advocate of the High Court, a mother, and a public figure entrusted with shaping national discourse.
In a country where accountability was taken seriously, such remarks would trigger formal censure, public apology, or even political consequences. Instead, the silence that often follows these incidents says as much about the political culture as the statement itself. When leaders repeatedly cross ethical lines without consequence, it stops feeling like personal misconduct and starts looking institutional.

Today, 28 April 2026, marked a proud and historic moment as the final contingent of officers serving under the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti returned home, bringing to a close a demanding 22-month deployment.

The contingent was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen; the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr Douglas Kanja; the National Security Advisor, Mr Joseph Boinett; Kenya’s Consul to Haiti, Mr Noor Gabow; the Director of Security Operations – Administration Police Service, Mr Jackson Kangani, SAIG; and the MSSM Force Commander, Mr Godfrey Otunge, SAIG. among other senior government officials.

They were received by a distinguished delegation comprising the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Korir Sing’oei and the Director-General of the United Nations Office, Dr Monica Juma. Also in attendance were the Deputy Inspector General – Kenya Police Service, Mr Eliud Lagat; the Deputy Inspector General – Administration Police Service, Mr Gilbert Masengeli; the Commandant of the General Service Unit, Mr Ranson Lolmodooni; the Principal Deputy to the DIG–APS, Dr Masoud Mwinyi; the Principal Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr John Onyango SAIG; and the United States Chargé d’Affaires, Ms Susan Burns, who delivered remarks on behalf of international partners.

In his address, CS Murkomen commended the officers for their professionalism, resilience, and discipline in a complex international security environment. He underscored Kenya’s growing leadership in global peace support operations, noting that the mission in Haiti has significantly strengthened the operational capacity of the National Police Service on the global stage.

The return of this final contingent not only signifies the successful completion of the mission, but also cements Kenya’s reputation as a dependable contributor to international peace and security.

“Karibuni Nyumbani — we are proud of you, our heroes.”

Statement by Capital Youths Association

The Capital Youths Association strongly condemns the reckless and uninformed attacks directed at the Kenya Ports Authority regarding its recruitment processes.

It is both misleading and irresponsible for members of the public, certain elected leaders, and sections of hired civil society to deliberately distort facts for political mileage. Kenya is governed by structured institutions, laws, and independent oversight bodies. Recruitment into public institutions is not a playground for political theatrics.

We wish to remind the country that several institutions have recently advertised employment opportunities, including the Kenya Fisheries Service, Kenya Maritime Authority, and various fisheries and cooperative bodies. These processes are guided by clear legal and administrative frameworks—not street-level propaganda.

Those seeking political office must desist from politicizing recruitment processes to gain cheap popularity. Such actions undermine public trust and create unnecessary tension among young people seeking opportunities.

The Kenya Ports Authority operates independently within its mandate and is strictly guided by its Human Resource policies and national regulations. Its role is not to manipulate or originate employment procedures outside the law, but to implement decisions that have been approved and structured by legally mandated bodies.

Let it be clearly understood: recruitment in Kenya is overseen by competent and constitutionally established institutions such as the Public Service Commission of Kenya, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, and other relevant regulatory authorities. These bodies ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in public employment.

Any attempt to falsely implicate the management of the Kenya Ports Authority is not only dishonest but a calculated move to mislead the public and incite unnecessary outrage.

As the Capital Youths Association, we urge all stakeholders to exercise responsibility, respect institutions, and uphold the rule of law. Kenya’s young people deserve truth, fairness, and opportunity—not manipulation by individuals driven by narrow political interests.

We will not remain silent as national institutions are dragged through the mud for the sake of political expediency. Enough is enough.
