Today, SCOPE KENYA had the pleasure of hosting Charles from AFSA for a courtesy visit and an enriching conversation around our work, experiences, and shared commitment to creating meaningful impact.
The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made through the project, while also sharing more about SCOPE KENYA’s work, presence, and impact, particularly our engagement with schools and our efforts to influence positive mindset change among school communities.
The visit was a valuable opportunity for learning, sharing, and strengthening relationships.
It was truly a meaningful exchange of ideas, experiences, and stories of impact.
We appreciate Charles for the visit and the opportunity to connect, learn, and share more about the work we do at Scope Kenya.

Starting the week with some good news from West Pokot!
SCOPE Kenya is proud to share that we emerged top during the Seed Fair held in West Pokot from 24th to 26th September, organized by BIBA under the theme:“Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiative for Sustainable Economic Growth.” The Seed Fair was a great reminder that sustainable agriculture begins with valuing our local knowledge, traditional seeds, and the resources available within our communities.
Three key lessons stood out:
Recovering our traditional farming practices
Recovering and conserving our traditional seeds
Reducing the cost of production through agroecology
By applying agroecological principles, farmers can make better use of locally available resources, reduce input costs, and build more resilient farming systems.
Being recognized as the top participant is an encouraging achievement for SCOPE Kenya, but more importantly, it reinforces the value of working with communities to promote sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture.

Yesterday, SCOPE KENYA joined fellow partners and stakeholders at the Kiambu County Agroecology Multistakeholder Platform (MSP) meeting.
The meeting provided a valuable space to reflect on the implementation of the Kiambu County Agroecology Development Act, 2025, while exploring the role of the MSP in enhancing coordination, promoting knowledge exchange, mobilizing resources, scaling up agroecological practices, and supporting effective policy implementation with farmers at the heart of these efforts.

SCOPE KENYA is in Ethiopia, participating in the Continental Conference to Strengthen African Civil Society Climate Action in Food Systems and Agriculture, bringing together African civil society actors to strengthen collective action towards COP31 and COP32. Today’s focus was negotiator training on climate and agroecology policy, providing an important opportunity to deepen understanding of climate negotiations, policy processes, and how African civil society can more effectively influence global climate discussions on food systems and agriculture.

Back to School, Fresh from the Garden!
As learners return to school, the harvest is here with us, and school gardens are bringing fresh vegetables straight to the plate.
From garden to school meal, learners get to enjoy fresh, nutritious produce while experiencing firsthand the value of growing their own food.
School gardens are not just about food; they are living classrooms for building the future food system actors we need.

The chicken coop is standing, the rabbit house is here, and the rabbits are happily settled in. The learners are also back in school!
So much happened over the holidays, and we’re grateful for every bit of progress, every lesson, and every blessing along the way.
And now, there’s so much more in store for the month of September.
