Minority Rights Organization
Minority Rights Organization (MIRO) works to promote the civil human rights of the minority communities of Cambodia.
Established in 2012, Minority Rights Organization (MIRO) works to promote the civil human rights of the minority communities of Cambodia. Founded by a group of Cambodian experts with years of experience in the human rights sector, MIRO primarily strives to promote and defend the human rights of the Khmer Krom and Vietnamese. MIRO aims to give a voice to minority issues so that, in the future, minority communities will have a voice of their own to claim their rights and contribute to a democratic and versatile Cambodia. MIRO aims to achieve these goals by focusing on five areas of activity. These are:
Minority human rights monitoring and advocacy
Eliminating Statelessness of Khmer Krom and Vietnamese in Cambodia
Empowerment of Khmer Krom women to political participation and gender equality
Support of Refugees and Asylum Seekers: Advocacy of Khmer Krom rights activists who are subject to political persecution in Vietnam and seek asylum in Thailand
Access to justice for minority victims at the UN Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Phnom Penh
