Banque BEMO took part in the FBN Levant 10-Year Anniversary Summit, held at ESA Business School, marking a decade of the Family Business Network in the Levant and bringing together leading voices from Lebanon’s banking, public, and family business sectors to reflect on what allows institutions to endure through crisis.
Dr. Riad Obegi, Chairman and General Manager of Banque BEMO, joined Panel One – “Stability Through the Storm” — alongside H.E. Dr. Amer Bisat, Minister of Economy & Trade, Lebanon; Ms. Joanne Sarraf Chehab, Chief Executive Officer, Malia Holding; and Ms. Carole Al Moudaber Haddad, Chairwoman, FBN Levant. The panel was moderated by Dr. Madonna Salameh-Ayanian, Director of the Strategic Corporate Relations Office at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK).
Dr. Obegi reframed resilience itself: “Resilience should not mean merely surviving — it means using the difficulties we pass through to transform ourselves, to become better than we were before.” He pointed to ethics, not governance alone, as the foundation on which the companies of the future must be built, and named vision as what Lebanon lacks most — at both the corporate and state level — to turn shared challenges into a breakthrough.
While family businesses across Lebanon continue to navigate a prolonged national crisis, the summit underscored a shared conviction among panelists: that endurance is not about returning to a prior state, but about transforming through difficulty into something stronger.
This participation reflects Banque BEMO’s continued belief in ethics and institutional dialogue as the foundation for lasting resilience — in family businesses and in Lebanon itself.

For Banque BEMO, this participation reflects a conviction it has long held: that endurance, continuity, and the ability to keep building through every storm are what define institutions that last.
