JRS Lebanon is a Catholic non-governmental organization dedicated to accompanying, serving, and advocating for vulnerable communities in Lebanon.
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization (HQ based in Rome) with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, that they may heal, learn, and determine their own future. The Jesuit Refugee Service, Lebanon has been implementing multifaceted emergency response programs since year 2012, tackling the most urgent needs of Syrian refugees and vulnerable members of the host community. Currently, JRS Lebanon runs emergency-response and/or education-in-emergency programs: providing early childhood education and learning support, specialized psychosocial support, recreational activities, home visits, emergency & basic assistance, adults’ education and protection. These programs aim to provide accompaniment, promote resilience, and respond to the refugee and host community basic needs. JRS Lebanon works in the following locations: Bourj Hammoud, Jbeil, Bar Elias, and Baalbeck.
الهيئة اليسوعيّة لخدمة اللّاجئين هي منظّمة كاثوليكيّة دوليّة (مقرّها الرّئيسيّ في روما)، مهمّتها مرافقة اللّاجئين والنّازحين قسرًا، خدمتهم، ومناصرتهم، ليتماثلوا للشّفاء، ليتعلموا، ويحدّدوا مستقبلهم.
منذ عام 2012، تقوم الهيئة اليسوعيّة لخدمة اللّاجئين في لبنان بتنفيذ برامج الإغاثة والاستجابة المتعدّدة الأوجه، لتلبية الاحتياجات العاجلة للّاجئين السّوريّين، والأفراد الأكثر هشاشة في المجتمع المضيف.
حاليًّا، تدير الهيئة اليسوعيّة لخدمة اللّاجئين برامج الاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ و/أو برامج التّعليم في حالات الطوارئ من خلال: توفير التّعليم في مرحلة الطّفولة المبكرة، الدّعم التربوي، الدّعم النّفسي والاجتماعي المتخصّص، الأنشطة التّرفيهيّة والثقافية، الزّيارات المنزليّة، المساعدات الطّارئة والأساسيّة، تعليم الكبار، وتوفير الحماية. تهدف هذه البرامج إلى دعم اللاجئين والمجتمع المضيف عبر توفير المرافقة وتعزيز الصمود والاستجابة للاحتياجات الأساسية.
تعمل الهيئة اليسوعيّة لخدمة اللّاجئين في المواقع التّالية: برج حمّود، جبيل، بر الياس، وبعلبك.
On the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, we stand with all those whose journeys have been shaped by migration, refuge, or displacement in search of safety, stability, and dignity.
In Lebanon, the escalation during 2026 displaced more than one million people, including around 390,000 children. While many families have since returned, 341,228 people remained internally displaced across the country as of 15 September 2026.

At the same time, Lebanon continues to host large refugee communities, including 889,625 Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR as of 30 June 2026, alongside other refugee communities living in the country.

Lebanon is also home to a significant migrant population. The International Organization for Migration identified 164,490 migrants from 77 nationalities across the country, with women representing 71% of those identified.

Children remain among those most affected by these overlapping crises. A nationwide assessment of 1,089 education facilities found 436 damaged and 37 destroyed, creating further challenges to safe and continuous access to education.

At JRS Lebanon, we continue to accompany refugees, migrants, displaced and vulnerable communities, supporting children and families through education, protection, psychosocial support, and other services that uphold dignity and strengthen hope.

في اليوم العالمي للمهاجرين واللاجئين، نقف إلى جانب كل من شكّلت الهجرة أو اللجوء أو النزوح جزءًا من رحلته بحثًا عن الأمان، والاستقرار، والكرامة.
في لبنان، أدّى التصعيد خلال عام 2026 إلى نزوح أكثر من مليون شخص، من بينهم نحو 390,000 طفل. ورغم عودة العديد من العائلات، بقي 341,228 شخصًا نازحين داخل البلاد حتى 15 أيلول/سبتمبر 2026.
وفي الوقت نفسه، يواصل لبنان استضافة مجتمعات لاجئة كبيرة، من بينها 889,625 لاجئًا سوريًا مسجّلًا لدى المفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين حتى 30 حزيران/يونيو 2026، إلى جانب مجتمعات لاجئة أخرى تعيش في البلاد.
كما يعيش في لبنان عدد كبير من المهاجرين. وقد حدّدت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة وجود 164,490 مهاجرًا من 77 جنسية في مختلف أنحاء البلاد، وتشكل النساء 71% منهم.
ويبقى الأطفال من بين الأكثر تأثرًا بهذه الأزمات المتداخلة. فقد أظهر تقييم وطني شمل 1,089 منشأة تعليمية أن 436 منشأة تضررت و37 منشأة دُمّرت، ما يضيف تحديات جديدة أمام الوصول الآمن والمستمر إلى التعليم.
في الهيئة اليسوعية لخدمة الإنسان في لبنان، نواصل مرافقة اللاجئين والمهاجرين والنازحين، ودعم الأطفال والعائلات من خلال التعليم، والحماية، والدعم النفسي والاجتماعي، وغيرها من الخدمات التي تصون الكرامة وتعزّز الأمل.

Building safer, stronger, and more prepared teams across JRS Lebanon. 🛡️
JRS Lebanon’s Security Department has completed the first round of Safety and Security trainings for staff across all areas of operation, equipping teams with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to navigate uncertainty and respond effectively when it matters most.
The trainings covered First Aid, Fire Safety and Emergency Response, Active Shooter Preparedness, Workplace Violence, UXO and ERW Awareness, Incident Reporting and Contingency Planning, Humanitarian Negotiations, as well as Defensive Driving and Field Movement Safety.
Through continuous learning and preparedness, JRS Lebanon remains committed to strengthening staff safety and ensuring teams are better equipped to operate responsibly and effectively in challenging environments.
أنهى قسم الأمن في الهيئة اليسوعية لخدمة الإنسان في لبنان الجولة الأولى من تدريبات السلامة والأمن لموظفي الهيئة اليسوعية في مختلف مناطق عملها، بهدف تعزيز معارفهم ومهاراتهم العملية وثقتهم في التعامل مع حالات الطوارئ والظروف غير المتوقعة.
وشملت التدريبات الإسعافات الأولية، التوعية بالسلامة من الحرائق، التوعية بمخاطر حوادث إطلاق النار العشوائي والعنف المرتبط بمكان في العمل، التوعية بمخاطر الذخائر غير المنفجرة ومخلفات الحرب، الإبلاغ عن الحوادث والتخطيط للطوارئ، المفاوضات في مجال العمل الإنساني، إضافة إلى القيادة الوقائية وإجراءات السلامة أثناء التنقل الميداني.
من خلال التدريب المستمر وتعزيز الجاهزية، تواصل الهيئة اليسوعية لخدمة الإنسان في لبنان التزامها بسلامة موظفيها وتمكين فرقها من العمل بمسؤولية وفعالية في مختلف الظروف.

In a time when many children and families in Lebanon continue to face uncertainty and challenges that can disrupt access to education, returning to the classroom carries an even deeper meaning. 🎒📚
At FVDL School in Bourj Hammoud, students are beginning a new school year, reconnecting with their classmates, returning to a familiar learning environment, and continuing their educational journey despite the difficulties around them.
Through safe, inclusive, and supportive learning spaces, JRS Lebanon works alongside children, families, teachers, and communities to help ensure that education remains accessible and that every learner has the opportunity to grow, participate, and look towards the future with hope.
في وقتٍ لا تزال فيه العديد من العائلات والأطفال في لبنان يواجهون تحديات وضغوطاً تؤثر على الوصول إلى التعليم واستمراريته، تحمل العودة إلى المدرسة معنى أعمق من مجرد بداية عام دراسي جديد. 🎒📚
في مدرسة FVDL في برج حمود، يعود الطلاب إلى صفوفهم، ويلتقون بزملائهم من جديد، ويستعيدون روتين التعلّم ضمن بيئة مألوفة وداعمة، ليواصلوا مسيرتهم التعليمية رغم الصعوبات المحيطة بهم.

A day dedicated to well-being, connection, and team spirit at the JRS Community Center in Bar Elias. 💙
Through a self-care session facilitated by our Psychologist, the team reflected on the importance of mental health, self-care, and their positive impact on teamwork and the quality of our work.
The day continued with recreational activities led by our MHPSS Officer, creating space for emotional release, stress relief, laughter, and meaningful team interaction.
Because caring for ourselves also strengthens the way we care for and support others. 🌿
يوم مخصّص للصحة النفسية، وتعزيز روح الفريق في مركز الهيئة اليسوعية لخدمة الإنسان في برالياس. 💙
خلال جلسة للعناية بالذات قدّمتها الأخصائية النفسية، تأمّل الفريق في أهمية الصحة النفسية والعناية بالذات، وتأثيرهما الإيجابي على ديناميكية الفريق وجودة العمل.

Six years after the Beirut Port explosion, JRS remembers the lives lost and stands in solidarity with the survivors, families, and communities whose lives were forever changed.
From a dream to a business of her own. ✨
For Micheline, becoming a single mother meant facing new challenges and finding ways to build a more stable future for herself and her daughter.
Through the livelihoods program at JRS FVDL Center in Bourj Hammoud, Micheline received vocational training, psychosocial support, and professional guidance that helped her turn her passion into a source of income.
Beyond learning new skills, the program helped her strengthen her confidence, discover her potential, and take steps toward economic independence.
Today, Micheline runs her own salon, a reflection of what can happen when people are supported with the right opportunities, skills, and encouragement.
At JRS, we accompany people on their journeys, standing with them as they rebuild their lives, develop their potential, and create sustainable futures with dignity and hope.
بالنسبة لميشلين، كان أن تصبح أمًا عزباء يعني مواجهة تحديات جديدة والبحث عن طرق لبناء مستقبل أكثر استقرارًا لها ولابنتها.
من خلال برنامج تحسين سبل العيش في مركز الأب فرانسيس فان در لغت في برج حمود، حصلت ميشلين على تدريب مهني، ودعم نفسي اجتماعي، وتوجيه مهني ساعدها على تحويل شغفها إلى مصدر دخل.
لم يقتصر أثر البرنامج على اكتساب مهارات جديدة فقط، بل ساعدها أيضًا على تعزيز ثقتها بنفسها، واكتشاف قدراتها، واتخاذ خطوات نحو الاستقلالية الاقتصادية.
اليوم، تدير ميشلين صالونها الخاص، في قصة تعكس ما يمكن تحقيقه عندما يحصل الأفراد على الفرص والمهارات والدعم المناسب.

As humanitarian needs continue across Lebanon, JRS Lebanon remains committed to accompanying displaced families with lifesaving support.
JRS Lebanon distributed Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food baskets to 181 families across the Bekaa, reaching Qab Elias, Zahle, Saghbine, Tall Znoub, Khirbet Rouha, Deir Znoun, Bar Elias, Kamed El-Laouz, Souairi, and Ouadi El-Aarayech.
While some families have begun returning to their communities, humanitarian needs remain significant. According to the latest OCHA Lebanon Flash Update (2 July 2026), nearly 500,000 people remain displaced, and many continue to face economic hardship, protection risks, and limited access to essential services.
Through the dedication of our teams and the support of our partners, JRS continues to provide timely assistance, ensuring that vulnerable families have access to essential food while accompanying them with dignity, hope, and solidarity during these challenging times.
مع استمرار الاحتياجات الإنسانية في مختلف أنحاء لبنان، تواصل الهيئة اليسوعية لخدمة الإنسان في لبنان مرافقة العائلات النازحة وتقديم المساعدات الأساسية والضرورية.
وزّعت الهيئة اليسوعية سلل غذائية جاهزة للأكل على 181 عائلة في منطقة البقاع، شملت بلدات قب إلياس، زحلة، سغبين، تل ذنوب، خربة روحا، دير زنون، برالياس، كامد اللوز، صويري، ووادي العرايش.
ورغم أن بعض العائلات بدأت بالعودة إلى مجتمعاتها، لا تزال الاحتياجات الإنسانية كبيرة. ووفقًا لآخر تحديث صادر عن مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية (OCHA) بتاريخ 2 تموز 2026، لا يزال ما يقارب 500 ألف شخص نازح، فيما يواجه الكثيرون صعوبات اقتصادية، ومخاطر تتعلق بالحماية، وصعوبة في الوصول إلى الخدمات الأساسية.
ومن خلال التزام فرقنا ودعم شركائنا، تواصل الهيئة اليسوعية تقديم المساعدات الإنسانية، لضمان وصول العائلات النازحة إلى الغذاء الأساسي، ومرافقتها بكرامة وأمل وتضامن في ظل هذه الظروف الصعبة.
