Language Hub

The objective of Language Hub Programme is to provide English education, training, and skill development for primary schooling students in terms of spoken, reading, writing, and listening. Sri Lanka owes a comprehensive education sector, where the national strategy is formed to meet the needs of the people for knowledge, skills, attitudes, and value base that determines their behavior almost through their life cycle. The general education system in Sri Lanka comprises three lifecycles, primary school (Grade 1-5), junior secondary school (Grade 6-9), and senior secondary school (Grade 10-13). English education is dated back to 1796, while at present, it is considering as the most facilitating secondary language to increase the productivity of communities. According to the census, English literacy among Sri Lankan population is stagnated at a very lower level, while it is deemed as a compulsory language for many employments in urban areas. Accordingly, the goal of this Language Hub Programme (LHP) is to establish a foundation to increase the English language proficiency among the future youth population of the country.
