Initial contact–midstance: Hip internally rotates 10–15° as body advances over stance foot, coupling with subtalar pronation (eversion 4–6°) for shock absorption.
Terminal stance: Supination rebounds (inversion 2–5°) + relative hip external rotation aligns femur for propulsion. Rigid high arches skip pronation → premature supination → limited hip IR range.
