𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐨𝐭𝐮𝐰𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐚 | දංකොටුව ගෙදර

Location- Dankotuwa, Sri Lanka.

At the end of a quiet village road, where coconut palms sway gently, and paddy fields stretch toward the horizon, sits Dankotuwe Gedara, a home shaped by land, light, and intention.

Set within a 10-acre coconut plantation, the residence was meticulously positioned to embrace its surroundings. To the front, the verdant paddy fields serve as a living canvas, while the surrounding palms provide a natural sanctuary of privacy. Every space is designed to feel grounded, airy, and deeply connected to the landscape.

This expansive single-story residence speaks a modern-classical design language, where elegance is expressed through proportion and material rather than excess. Each of the five en-suite bedrooms was individually tailored to reflect the unique personalities of its residents, ensuring every room feels both personal and refined.

The living room serves as the home’s soul. A custom-designed sofa in rich maroon and soft grey anchors the space, while luxury marble coffee tables and side stools add a sculptural quality. Refined wooden moldings bring a timeless character to the walls, complemented by high-quality fabrics selected for both comfort and longevity. To add a subtle layer of warmth and luxury, all steel furniture elements are finished in brass.

The dining area continues this material dialogue, featuring a bespoke table of natural wood and marble, a statement piece designed for both daily life and grand gatherings.

Beyond the primary living spaces, the home offers a resort-like lifestyle, featuring an English bar, a cinema room, a sauna, a steam room, and an expansive pool area set within landscaped gardens. A wet kitchen, display pantry, and staff quarters ensure seamless functionality without compromising the home’s refined aesthetic.

Dankotuwe Gedara is more than a house: it is a sanctuary where craftsmanship, materiality, and nature converge to create a timeless living experience.

The residence welcomes visitors with a dramatic double-height lobby, where a striking marble feature wall defines the spatial character and establishes a strong architectural focal point. The ground floor is organized around a generously scaled living and dining zone, articulated through a muted palette of soft neutrals, timber accents, and delicate metallic highlights that foster warmth and sophistication. Spatial continuity is reinforced by the use of oversized floor tiles and restrained, modern furniture selections. The kitchen exemplifies functional minimalism, its clean cabinetry lines ensuring both practicality and visual cohesion. A guest suite on this level, flooded with natural daylight, provides adaptable accommodation for family or visitors. Ascending to the upper level, two refined bedrooms and a dedicated office extend the language of simplicity and luxury. Material refinement and a serene tonal range cultivate tranquility, offering spaces conducive to both rest and professional activity.
