As part of continued efforts to strengthen collaborative leadership across the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs (MoWCA), a second workshop on Core Skills for Public Officials was conducted for the next tier of officials across the Ministry’s departments with the participation of Ms. W.M.D.T. Wickremasinghe, Secretary, MoWCA. The workshop focused on fostering a unified front to achieving the Ministry’s vision and mission.

Through experiential and game-based learning, guided discussions, and structured thinking approaches, the participants explored the behaviours and capabilities required to work effectively across functions, navigate complex challenges, and make more informed decisions while strengthening collaboration, leadership, and shared accountability across teams.

A key feature of the workshop was its emphasis on empathy and citizen-centred service delivery. Participants reflected on the lived experiences of women, children, and vulnerable communities, recognising the real-world impact of government systems and exploring how more inclusive, respectful, and human-centred approaches can strengthen public service delivery.

බස්නාහිර පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාර හනීෆ් යුසූෆ් මහතා බස්නාහිර පළාතේ රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලන ක්ෂේත්‍රය තුළ නව්‍යතාවය සහ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමේ උත්සාහයන්හි කොටසක් ලෙස පසුගියදා සිත්‍රා සමාජ නවෝත්පාදන පරීක්ෂාගාරයේ සංචාරයකට එක්විය.

එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහන (UNDP) සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය කාර්යාලය එක්ව ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ඒකාබද්ධ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් වන සිත්‍රා පරීක්ෂාගාරය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම මහජන අංශ නව්‍යතා පරීක්ෂාගාරය වන වේ. රජයේ ආයතන සමඟ එක්ව ක්‍රියා කරමින්, ජනතා මූලික සැලසුම් ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම, පද්ධති චින්තනය සහ ප්‍රතිපත්ති ආදර්ශ නිර්මාණය වැනි ක්‍රමවේද භාවිතා කරමින් කාර්යශීලී, ආවරණශීලී හා අනාගතයට සුදුසු ප්‍රතිපත්ති විසඳුම් සංවර්ධනය කරයි.

මෙම සංචාරය හරහා ජනතා මූලික, දත්ත මූලික ක්‍රමවේදයන් භාවිතයෙන් සේවා සැපයුම හා රාජ්‍ය පාලනය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම සඳහා බස්නාහිර පළාතට ගත හැකි පියවර පිළිබඳව ආණ්ඩුකාරවරයාගේ අවධානය යොමු විය.

මෙම සංචාරයෙන් අනතුරුව ගත් පියවරක් ලෙස ඊයේ (28) දින ආණ්ඩුකාරවරයා එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහනේ සහය ඇතිව ක්‍රියාත්මක ආදර්ශ මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් වන කඩුවෙල රන් පෙළැස්ස අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයට ගිය අතර මෙම මධ්‍යස්ථානය අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණයේ සිට බලශක්ති නිෂ්පාදනය දක්වා ඉහල කාර්යභාරයක් සිදුකරයි. මෙමගින් දිනකට ටොන් 10ක් දක්වා ජෛව හායනයට ලක්විය හැකි අපද්‍රව්‍ය සැකසීම කරන අතර, ජාතික විදුලිබල ජාලය සඳහා විදුලිය උත්පාදනය කර ද්‍රව කාබනික පොහොර නිෂ්පාදනය කරයි.

Shaping a future-ready public sector for Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

The Executive Programme 2026 brought together senior public sector officials for an immersive learning journey designed to strengthen innovative thinking, leadership, and service delivery equipping them to respond to evolving national priorities and drive sustainable development outcomes.
Implemented through Citra Lab a joint initiative of the Prime Minister's Office of Sri Lanka and United Nations Development Programme - UNDP , in partnership with the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), with support from FutureGov and UNDP’s Governance and Public Goods and Services (GPGS) team. FutureGov is supported by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund under the UN Peace and Development Fund

Citra Social Innovation Lab convened its Steering Committee Meeting on 22 January 2026, co-chaired by Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Ms. Azusa Kubota, Resident Representative, UNDP Sri Lanka.

The session reflected on Citra’s work from 2023-2025, including contributions to Sri Lanka’s first Strategy, further strengthening public sector capabilities, conceptualizing the OneRegistry initiative aimed at digitally transforming the CRVS system, and efforts to strengthen the entrepreneurship and skills ecosystem in the country amongst others. The committee also discussed 2026 priorities such as sectoral efforts, initiatives aimed at embedding strategic innovation and future-ready government, with engagement from public and private sector partners alike.

With growing appetite from government institutions for innovative, citizen-centred approaches, the discussion underscored the importance of strong institutional leadership and cross-sector collaboration to translate innovation into impact, reinforcing Citra’s role as a trusted platform supporting innovation and future-forward efforts to create tangible impact on the ground.
