Since commencing operations in 1999, SAGT has played a significant role in strengthening the Port of Colombo as a leading transshipment hub in South Asia.

Our RTG hybridisation project is making a real impact. With 28 out of 31 RTG cranes now operating on hybrid diesel-battery technology, we've achieved a 43.5% reduction in diesel consumption per move for hybrid units and saved an estimated 2 million litres of fuel, equivalent to a 53% reduction versus conventional operations.

By cutting emissions, improving efficiency and lowering operational costs, we're proving that sustainable innovation can power world-class terminal performance.

Investing in world-class infrastructure is key to delivering safe, efficient and reliable port operations.

As one of the key highlights of 2025/26, SAGT successfully completed the replacement of its quay crane rails, enhancing crane performance, operational reliability, safety, and long-term productivity. This milestone reinforces our commitment to operational excellence, ensuring that we continue to provide world-class terminal services at the Port of Colombo.

SAGT continues to move towards a cleaner future. Equipment electrification is one of the many actions we're taking to reduce emissions across our operations. With new electric equipment already in service and 30 electric prime movers on the horizon, we're making steady progress in reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
