නුවර ඉඳලා කීර්තිබණ්ඩාරපුර පැත්තට යද්දී හම්බවෙන මේ නිස්කලංක දසුන කී දෙනෙක් නම් දැකලා තියෙනවද? අවුරුද්දේ අනිත් කාලවලට වතුරෙන් යටවෙලා තිබුණට, මේ දවස්වල වතුර අඩු වෙනකොට මතු වෙන මේ දසුන ඇත්තටම වෙනස්ම ලස්සනක්. 😍✨

පිදුරංගල උඩට යන හැමෝම වගේ මහන්සි නිවාගන්න මේ යකඩ වැට ගාව නතර වුණාට , මේ ගල් තලාවේ කොටලා තියෙන අකුරුවලින් කියවෙන්නේ සීගිරියේ කාශ්යප රජතුමාගේ සැබෑ ඉතිහාසය කියලා දන්නේ කීයෙන් කීදෙනාද?
ක්රිස්තු වර්ෂ 5-6 සියවස්වලට (පූර්ව බ්රාහ්මී අක්ෂරවලින්) අයිති මේ සෙල්ලිපියෙන් කියවෙන්නේ, කාශ්යප රජතුමා සීගිරි පර්වතය තමන්ගේ බලකොටුව කරගන්නකොට එතන වැඩසිටි රහතන් වහන්සේලා වෙනුවෙන් මේ පිදුරංගල මහා විහාරය කරවා, ඒ වෙනුවෙන් පූජා කරපු ගම්බිම් සහ රන් කහවණු (බදු මුදල්) පිළිබඳවයි.
පාරේ හමුවෙන මැටි සහ ගඩොලින් නිමවා ඇති අසිරිමත් සැතපෙන බුදු පිළිම වහන්සේ වගේම, මේ සෙල්ලිපියත් සීගිරි-පිදුරංගල අතීත ශ්රී විභූතියට ජීවමාන සාක්ෂියක්. මේ හැමදේම පහුකරගෙන උඩටම ගියාම පෙනෙන සීගිරි දර්ශනය නම් වචනවලට පෙරලන්න බැරි තරම් සුන්දරයි.
Most hikers stop near this iron fence just to catch their breath , unaware that right beneath their feet lies a powerful piece of history. Written in Early Brahmi script (dating back to the 5th-6th century), this ancient inscription records the lands and gold coins (taxes) dedicated to the temple by King Kashyapa himself!
Along with the magnificent reclining Buddha statue carved under a massive boulder , this inscription proves that Pidurangala was a grand monastery long before it became a tourist hotspot. And once you pass these historical marvels, the ultimate reward awaits at the summit—a breathtaking, cloud-kissed view of the majestic Lion Rock .
