"But women suffer from this too..."
Yes. They do.
But that wasn't the topic.
After my podcast with Dr Noel Somasundarem on men's mental health, I saw comments saying, "But women go through the same thing."
I have never said they don't.
But I'm here to talk about men's mental health.
There are plenty of professionals, feminists and social media voices discussing women's mental health—and rightly so.
I am a man, and I'm here for my men.
We need to move away from this constant "Yes, but..." culture
Discussing one group's struggles doesn't invalidate another's.
Sometimes, we can simply listen to the issue being discussed without changing the subject.

🦠 How is HIV transmitted—and how is it NOT?
Misinformation continues to fuel unnecessary fear and stigma around HIV.
In this clip, Dr. Vino Dharmakulasinghe explains that HIV is transmitted through:
✔️ Unprotected s*xual contact
✔️ Mother-to-child transmission
✔️ Sharing contaminated needles
It is NOT spread through:
❌ Handshakes or hugs
❌ Casual kissing
❌ Mosquito bites
❌ Sharing meals or toilets
Understanding the facts is one of the most powerful ways to prevent both HIV and the stigma surrounding it.

❤️ HIV can be controlled—and transmission can be prevented.
Modern antiretroviral therapy (ART) has transformed HIV care.
In this clip, Dr. Vino Dharmakulasinghe explains that with early diagnosis and consistent treatment, the virus can be suppressed to undetectable levels, dramatically reducing the risk of s*xual transmission.
This is an important message for Sri Lanka: HIV is treatable, controllable, and people living with HIV can lead healthy lives while helping prevent onward transmission through effective treatment.

👨👩👧👦 Should schools be solely responsible for s*x education?
Sexual health education is part of the school curriculum, but schools cannot do it alone.
In this clip, Dr. Vino Dharmakulasinghe explains why parents also have a vital role in teaching their children about safe s*x, STI prevention, and healthy relationships through honest, age-appropriate conversations.
When parents and schools work together, young people are better equipped to make informed, safer decisions.

📈 Why are HIV infections increasing among young people?
There is a concerning rise in HIV infections among 15–25-year-olds in Sri Lanka.
This isn't a reason for fear—it's a call for better education. Young people need accurate information about HIV prevention, safe s*x, and how to protect themselves and others.
In this clip, Dr. Vino Dharmakulasinghe explains why honest, evidence-based s*xual health education is more important than ever.

🦠 Is everyone with HIV an "AIDS patient"?
No. One of the most common misconceptions is using the term "AIDS patient" for everyone living with HIV.
In this clip, Dr. Vino Dharmakulasinghe explains the crucial difference between living with HIV and developing AIDS, which is the advanced stage of untreated HIV infection. Using the correct terminology isn't just medically accurate—it also helps reduce stigma and discrimination.
Knowledge changes attitudes. Words matter.
💊 "I've been taking Postinor regularly... Will I be infertile after marriage?" 😳
Another spicy question from my inbox... this time with Ms. Radya Liyanarachchi! 😅
“Doctor, I've been taking Postinor regularly. I'm getting married soon. Will this affect my fertility?"
The reassuring answer is “No.”
Using emergency contraceptive pills doesn't appear to cause permanent infertility. Your fertility usually returns quickly after the medication leaves your body.
But... that's not what Postinor is meant for.
Emergency contraception should be used **only for emergencies**, not as your regular method of contraception.
