LCS AND IDM FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST CAPACITY BUILDING

The Director IDM Mr Molapo in his opening remarks showed the importance of this event and that it has been long overdue. That in the past both institutions had an MOU but only LCS managed to keep end of the deal as it refurbished some of the structures in the campus.

On the part of LCS, the Chief of Corrections Mr Matingoe Phamotse said that LCS mandate is to provide custodial services as provided for in the Constitution. That to be achieved the LCS officers need to be capacitated and IDM is a best suited institution to assist in that.

The history of IDM and Correctional comes a long way that the signing of this MOU will be beneficial to both institutions. That there are already officers who are attending at this institution and this will also mean that the number will increase.

1. The signing of this MOU comes at the opportune time when LCS truly needs capacity building for its officers.

2. It is a principle that inmates are from the community and that they will go back to the same community as law abiding citizens, this calls for training for these inmates for them to be industrious and beneficial to communities.

3. IDM will also benefit from the LCS in the management of their students especially with regard to gangsterism and other sub-cultural groups.

4. What is needed now is the implementation of this beautiful document.
