Day 3 of the 29th CSO Forum focused on children’s safety, care and dignity. Discussions covered support for survivors, protection from ritual harm, disability inclusion, ending corporal punishment and menstrual justice.

For Maleah Foundation, the menstrual health discussions spoke directly to our work with girls in schools. Menstrual pads, clean water, soap, private and accessible toilets, and a school environment where girls can ask for support without shame.

We take these conversations back to our Girls for Girls clubs, Period Champions and Boys as Allies work. Using the childrens experiences to guide the changes we advocate for, including those of children with disabilities.

“Water is not a luxury, toilets are not a privilege” ~ this was part of the message our child coordinator, Taelo, delivered at the before handing the Outcome Statement of African Children to the Forum’s Chairperson.

He carried concerns shared by children from all five regions of Africa. Their requests to governments were practical and urgent:
💧Provide safe drinking water in every school.
🚻🚽Ensure children with disabilities can access and use toilets.
🩸Remove taxes on all menstrual products.
📈Increase funding for water, sanitation and hygiene, and involve children in monitoring these services.

They also called on the CSO Forum to involve children in advocacy, support young WASH champions and track how WASH budgets are spent.

These recommendations deserve action, the children have spoken ours is to follow-through.

Two years ago, our girl child ambassadors asked us to widen the conversation and welcome boys into our space through the

Today, at the , we watched that request take shape. Thank you to Lesotho Network Of Development Of The Blindfor walking this journey with us.

Including boys as allies also means making room for boys with disabilities to participate and lead.

To our Child Coordinators (Karabo and Taelo), thank you for organising, and helping your peers prepare, We are proud of you all!

We are excited to once again join fellow child rights advocates for the 29th CSO Forum.

Over the past few days, our child coordinators have been preparing and choosing their representatives. For us, this is part of the work: supporting children to organise, speak for themselves and bring the concerns of other children into the room.

Our support is simple, groom them to be confident enough to say, “This is what matters to us,” and to ask questions when something is unclear. That takes preparation and encouragement. It also takes adults who are willing to listen and make space.

As we gather, we look forward to hearing what children want us to understand and learning from colleagues working alongside them across Africa. There is much to share, and much to take back into our everyday work.

To everyone travelling to Lesotho, rea le amohela! We look forward to welcoming you. 🇱🇸🌍

Today, our Girl Child Ambassador, Khotsofalo Shale, took part in the Lesotho Education Partnership Compact Mid-Term Review in Maseru.

She stood alongside other children as they presented their statement on meaningful child participation in education.

Children have much to contribute to these discussions. They know what helps them learn, what makes school difficult and what they wish adults understood. They need room to express those experiences in their own words, and people willing to listen and respond.

As a Foundation, we mentor and prepare children to participate confidently in forums like this. We encourage them to think through the issues that concern them, express their views and recognise the value of their contribution. Our role is to support them and amplify their voices.

We want more children to know that they belong in these conversations and can help shape the decisions that affect their lives.
