In a world that often teaches girls to be small and silent, sport gives them space to rise boldly.As Lesotho we rise against GBV, fear and every system that teaches girls to shrink or remain silent. Through boxing, women and girls build courage, discipline and skills to defend themselves.Thank you Lesotho Women in Boxing for inviting us to join your women’s health day.

Today, together with Maleah Foundation, we joined women leaders at the launch of the IWPG Peace Leadership Forum in Maseru.Peace begins in our homes and communities, in the way we speak to one another, raise our children and respond when a woman or girl is being abused. There can be no peace when mothers, daughters, and sisters live in fear. Speak out, protect survivors, challenge abuse and refuse to keep quiet. Until the violence stops, we RISE!!!!

On 27 June 2026, participated in the Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month Commemoration at Hlotse, held under the theme “Monna ha se nku.”

The event created a safe and culturally relevant space for honest conversations about men’s mental health. It reminded us that men can feel, men can hurt, and men can heal. It also carried a powerful message that it is okay to not be okay.

As One Billion Rising Lesotho, this conversation matters deeply to our work of ending gender-based violence. We cannot speak about safer homes, safer relationships, and safer communities without also speaking about emotional wellbeing, harmful ideas of masculinity, silence, shame, and the pressure placed on men and boys to never show pain.

When boys are taught that being a man means hiding pain, suppressing emotions, or using power to control others, we create conditions where violence can grow. But when we create spaces for boys and men to speak, heal, unlearn, and be supported, we also strengthen the movement against GBV.

Organised by Mental Wellness Alliance, MindBridge, and other partners, the commemoration was timely and impactful. It reminded us that mental health is a human issue, not a weakness.

At One Billion Rising Lesotho, we continue to rise for women and girls, while also recognising that the boy child must be part of the conversation. Ending GBV requires all of us. It requires healing, accountability, education, and safe spaces for difficult conversations.

“Men’s mental health is a human issue, not a weakness. At One Billion Rising Lesotho, we believe in creating spaces where the boy child can also heal,” said Ts’episo, representing One Billion Rising Lesotho and Maleah Foundation.

We are grateful to have been part of this important commemoration and look forward to continued collaborations that promote healing, dignity, and violence-free communities.

Girls for Girls continue to show us what it means to rise for our bodies, our safety, and our future. As , we are proud to support the Girls for Girls Club as they take up leadership in their school, break the silence around period poverty, stigma, and gender-based violence, and encourage other girls to speak boldly about the issues that affect them.

These are the sorts of clubs we want to see in schools. Clubs where girls lead, challenge harmful norms, and stand together for a world free from violence. When girls lead, schools become safer, more informed, and more supportive spaces for every girl to thrive.
