This morning at Invest Myanmar Summit 2019 we heard Directorate of Investment and Company Administration head U Aung Naing Oo, who has done more than anyone to implement investment reform and make investment happen, discuss the transformations that the Investment Rules and Companies Law (both drafted by partner Chris Hughes and the SCM legal team) have made to business and regulatory practice. 10,000 new and 40,000 existing company re-registrations achieved online in 6 months. Amazing.

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE ACTION PLANNING (CGAP)

20 director generals, board directors, senior executives and Corporate Governance practitioners from 12 companies and government agencies attended MIoD’s 1-day Corporate Governance Action Planning on November 28, 2018. The workshop is part of MIoD Learning series and it provides a deep dive into the fundamentals of the corporate governance framework and helps directors and executives develop a plan for implementing effective governance practices in their companies. An expert team from IFC and SCM Legal delivered the workshop with the local expert facilitators.
